allnurses.com Launches #ThankANurse Campaign to Celebrate National Nurse Appreciation Week

EXCELSIOR, MN, May 6, 2014 - allnurses.com, the largest peer-to-peer online networking site for nurses and nursing students, announced the launch of its "Thank a Nurse" initiative - just in time for National Nurse Appreciation Week, May 6 to May 12, 2014. Friends, family, colleagues or anyone who appreciates the hard work and dedication of the nearly 20 million practicing nurses worldwide is encouraged to spread the love and Thank a Nurse.

For consumers who might not see a nurse in person this week, allnurses.com is offering an easy way send some thanks and appreciation. Simply visit allnurses.com and input your message. The note will be featured on the Thank a Nurse website and users will also have the option to send a message directly to a nurse through email. Then, share it on social media using the hashtag #ThankANurse to spread the word.

"As a nurse myself, I know that it is a tremendously rewarding profession," said Brian Short, Founder of allnurses.com. "But, there are times when it is frustrating, stressful and even heartbreaking. You'd be surprised how two simple words can make a big difference in a nurse's day."

Established by the American Nurses Association (ANA), National Nurse Appreciation Week occurs annually from May 6th (National Nurses Day) to May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The ANA also recognizes National Student Nurses Day on May 8th and National School Nurses Day on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week.

So I am looking at the site - the main face page - and see no logo or any mention of this. Am I blind? Is it hidden somewhere?

I see it on this page to the right of the posts, right under your 'info' and the count of how many users are online.

Nope. All I see are the post and article titles laid out as headlines, those fill my entire screen. No logo or link to Thank A Nurse.

I'm on an iPad mini and iPhone using the newest versions of the OS and Safari, like millions of people, so I hope it's been optimized for viewing on the devices most of us use.

An actual link/URL to the site in the OP would be very helpful. Nowhere in the press release does it mention the domain name, and Google also turns up nothing. Come on, guys.

Also, once I'm at the site, the only link to share on Facebook takes you directly to the AllNurses FB page. No way to share the actual Thank a Nurse site on FB - say, a hyperlink - without cutting and pasting the URL from your browser into your status update? Seriously?

We are working out the kinks, thanks for the feedback! It's greatly appreciated.

We have updated the facebook and twitter pages on Thank a Nurse

We had some technical glitches which we had to redo everything at the last minute, so thanks for your understanding :) We were scrambling to get this site live by this morning :) I guess it's better to have it out there, then we can tweak and improve as things move forward.

Keep the suggestions coming! We really appreciate your feedback!
