Hi, I'm Purple Scrubs. I am a school nurse for an elementary school in North Texas. I have been at my school almost 2 years, and I love it! Like Praiser, the teachers tend to drive me crazy (not to mention parents at times), but I love working with the kiddos and I do enjoy building a relationship with the families and communities. My district is an urban, low income district, so I have many families who are homeless and/or poverty level. It presents special challenges but also amazing rewards!

Hello! I am Artistyc1; I am an artist that makes my living as a school nurse. It is the very best, (and often the most frustrating and difficult) job I have had in my 32 years as an RN. I have been a school nurse for 6 years, and no day is "routine"! I love all my kids, work at an elementary school in Upstate NY. The teachers and families can drive you crazy, but for the most part, they are just a "challenge", LOL!

my name is melinda. this is my first year as a school nurse. i live in south alabama and go to three different schools. two are k4-8th grade and the other is a middle school (6th-8th). the schools are rotated and i am at one school all day. so far so good, i am just learning the ropes. i have been enjoying myself so much more than my previous job. i am lucky enough to have a job where all the students and teachers respect me and love having a nurse around, even if it is just for the ice packs. lol.

Hi, I'm Karen from NH. I'm in my first year as a school nurse. I am part-time, the only nurse of a 125 student PK-8 rural elementary school. I also work FT as an ER nurse. Praying someday this position will go FT, I love it! The kids make my days so much fun. Definitely have my challenges, but it's so rewarding. Every day is different.
I just want to thank everyone here for their great advice, tips, and thoughts. Even though I'm a lurker, I am here every day and get so much out of these boards.
Hope you all are having a great day!:loveya:

Hi Everyone:
I am Needsmorechocolate from NH. I have been a school nurse for three years. My experience is with elementary kids (K-8). I love the kids and this has been one of the toughest but most rewarding nursing jobs I have had. I enjoy the fact that no two days are alike!
I lurk here on the boards almost daily. I have learned so much from reading all the posts.
I hope everyone had a good day!

I work in a high school with about 1,000 kids. This is my 3rd year there. Prior to that I worked as an assistant to the school nurse in an elementary schools. I liked that job so much , that is why I went back for my BSN and School Nurse Certification. I have been a nurse for 24 years total. The job is stressful, but it is the best job I ever had.
I love the friendship and advice I receive from my Allnurses friends!:redbeathe:heartbeat:redbeathe

Hello, I am glolilly. I work at a high school in Texas. I have been a school nurse for 5 years and a RN, BSN for 23 years. I love being a school nurse and don't miss the hospitals one bit. Flu has hit our schools pretty hard and has kept me busy from daily board reading. I have been lurking in the evening about once a week. I enjoy the discussions and information gathered here. It is a place to share a common interest and give feedback. Welcome old and new school nurses!:yeah:
