Just wondering who all has/is submitting their application for the October due date for the AF for the up and coming boards?
He told me not to give up just yet, because more slots can open up. He's going to resubmit my packet. Apparently there is a mid year review that takes place in the March-May timeframe. Maybe you were one of the 16?!!! I'm going to cross my fingers for selection next year...hopefully it's in the cards!
Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, my recruiter states he was "blown away". I am prior service and Col Moore reviewed my resume before she retired and said I would be selected. I also knew the Chief Nurse who I interviewed with, he remember me and said I would be selected. My recruiter was even told by AFPC I was being selected. My recruiter and his boss are speechless. When you are not selected, they do not give any reason. My recruiter said his boss is following up because it does not make sense. Either way, now I must move on. Good luck to you guys!
That is so disappointing, especially after being told you would be selected by so many people. I am still waiting to hear. I am not sure how long I am willing to wait to get in. My recruiter mentioned the possibility of "alternate" status, but I think it still means your application is reviewed again at the next board along with all the new applicants and it is not a guarantee of a spot. Also, I would not be surprised if the next board is not until this time next year. My family has been very supportive and patient with me but it seems unfair to drag this out longer with no guarantee of getting in even at a later date!
I have to agree with you, cross2blue. Were the same age and as much as l want to fulfill a lifelong dream, I can't imagine putting my family through this again. Procrastination is a hard lesson to learn when you're dreams are almost out of reach as a result of. What happens, is gonna happen at this point. If we get bumped to next review and I'm offered, I have to say I'm going to think a little more with my mind this time around....
I got a call yesterday and missed it. My recruiter did not say anything in the message...now am pulling out my hair...oh the drama!
I'm trying not to think about this. I heard here that one person did not make it in was notified yesterday...I got a call and missed it...aaaaahhhhhgggghhhh!
I work nights and could not answer as I was sleeping. OH MAN! I tried to call back, but she must have left. WOW..if only 16 got in and I got a call, there's a good chance I'm not in either...sigh... I will try to remain optimistic (though hard) until Monday. I texted her and sent email with no reply back. I don't think that sounds good. I will post if I get it or not. As soon as anyone hears...POST IT STAT! Did anyone else hear???
I am very sorry to the person who was contacted yesterday. I hope you get in when a spot opens!
I went back over posts and my mistake, two nurses did not make it from yesterday...not just one person. So this means the board has decisions on everyone now? I wonder...My husband (prior military) did say that this time of year that they will likely say only so many slots and still open up more to get a bigger budget!!! Don't give up hope yet.
Akellyrn and Rn1972 Sorry to hear about boards...it sounds like it is brutal. Just out of curiosity, how many years' experience as a nurse and how old are you both. It is obvious that the Air Force is becoming choosier with their candidates; hopefully they are not trying to decrease the age limit that is required to get in. I saw that for other parts of the AF to serve as an officer, you have to commission before your 35th birthday, and nurses were to commission by their 40th birthday. I wonder is with the large pool of candidates that maybe they are pushing the age of people they take down to be closer in line to 35 years of age. I have no idea though, just thinking out-loud. It would be nice if we got a statistical analysis of the board selection.

I still don't know what that phone call meant yesterday that I missed, but with two of us here getting denied...still worried I'm a 3rd. I am even more worried after reading rn1972's post and the one prior! I'm 37 with 16 (almost 17 yrs) experience. I'm interested in the statistical analysis of who gets chosen and why, too:) I'm wondering if it's not our concentration of service or specialty??? Ya know?? I'm concentrated in cardiology and most recently ICU...that was what I applied for. PLUS I get my BSN Dec 18th officially...so I think they may roll me over until the next board, but certainly hope not since I'm an RN already with a ton of experience.
How about you rn1972? Anyone else not make it this time? What specialties are you all that are waiting? I know some had said in prior posts...maybe they don't need some specialties as much as the others...just my two copper cents worth:) I'm trying to remain optimistic...especailly after my husband discussed how the military budget works and not to freak out...I'm still freaking anyway:redbeathe:uhoh3:

Yes, my application was sent to this current board. My recruiter told me that the 16 that were selected were rollovers from last year. He also indicated that more slots can open up, as some people are pushing for more nurse openings. I'm very disappointed!
