Air Force October 2010

Published

Just wondering who all has/is submitting their application for the October due date for the AF for the up and coming boards?

Ugh! The suspense is killing me! Has anyone heard anything? I know we likely won't hear anything until Thanksgiving-ish. My recruited said of this week: no news. I know I should just relax and go with the flow...but it is hard not to worry about something that could potentially change your career and life!!! I also feel like I have put all my eggs in a basket that I did not know was already overflowing!!! I have spent so much time talking this up to family and friends-now I feel stupid knowing there are very few spots. If anyone hears any news please keep all of us updated. I will be praying for all of us to get in!:uhoh3:

Specializes in NICU, PICU, Pediatrics.

Relax. I have spent so much time "waiting", I don't even think about it much because I know that we won't hear anything til probably December. The board isn't being released until right before thanksgiving. So, no one will hear anything until after that, unless the board has questions about an applicant. I just keep applying to and looking for jobs. Haven't had much luck in over 2 years, but I do it anyway. Even if you are accepted/selected, you most likely will not be assigned to leave for COT until probably next summer/fall. I doubt if anyone will be assigned a January COT date unless the AF has an immediate need to fill a certain position. I know it's hard, but try to go about your life as you normally would, as if you hadn't even applied to the AF. :D

Specializes in ICU/CCU.

As far as COT goes, I was told March 8 would more than likely be my start date...all depending on the currently situation at the board.

BTW, I know a guy who knows a guy who beat up a guy and took his camera. On that camera was a disk full of pictures of the November 2010 board as it meets right now. I thought you guys might like to see exactly what's going on as your life hangs in the balance.

At first, I thought you were serious...lol...that was a good one! :yeah: I hope you're at my side if we make it...I'm going to need to laugh, and get through those stinking push ups! ;)

Hi all! My recruiter called me today and told me that only 16 nurses were selected nationwide. He said that they weren't given any money in the budget for more nurses. Has anyone heard the same or am I being lied to??

Specializes in ER, ICU, Med/Surg.

Akellyrn, I hadn't heard that from my recruiter yet. Was your application at this current board?

Specializes in OR/Trauma/Surgery/CriticalCare.

What a coincidence....I think there are 16 of us that are writing on this thread....perfect!!!!

I got a call today, not selected.

I'm sorry rn1972, other than the limited slots, did he have any reason why you weren't selected? Can you apply again in the future? I truly believe things happen for a reason... Not that the timing would make it any easier to handle but I thought they would not start releasing the results until after thanksgiving... Good luck and God Bless.

RN1972.. So sorry to hear that. Big hugs and warm thoughts being sent your way. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. It is such a huge undertaking just to apply. Best wishes with whatever your plan B was.
