Air Force October 2010
I hope there's no truth to the 2009 applicant thing...that's just what I was told. I'm interested in finding out if you're selected since we have a year of experience. Good luck! :)

Air Force October 2010
Aww...thanks!! My recruiter told me that he would indeed resubmit my application and mentioned that the next board should meet in march-may timeframe. Hopefully they open more spots! You have a great deal of experience so I'm sure that's advantageous for you. Be sure to update everyone tomorrow! Good luck to you!

Air Force October 2010
I'm 24 and I've been a nurse for less than a year. Currently I'm working at a pediatric hospital, but for the air force I was trying to enter as an L&D nurse. I have no L&D experience! Maybe that's why I wasn't chosen??

November 2010 Air Force Board Selections
I'm confused...if we're not selected, we can't have our application resubmitted? And I'm guessing since you weren't told that you weren't selected, that you were picked? How long has your journey been in applying to this point? I'm so discouraged!

He told me not to give up just yet, because more slots can open up. He's going to resubmit my packet. Apparently there is a mid year review that takes place in the March-May timeframe. Maybe you were one of the 16?!!! I'm going to cross my fingers for selection next year...hopefully it's in the cards!

Yes, my application was sent to this current board. My recruiter told me that the 16 that were selected were rollovers from last year. He also indicated that more slots can open up, as some people are pushing for more nurse openings. I'm very disappointed!

Air Force October 2010
Hi all! My recruiter called me today and told me that only 16 nurses were selected nationwide. He said that they weren't given any money in the budget for more nurses. Has anyone heard the same or am I being lied to??

Future Air Force nurse here with lots of questions!
Thank you so much for your response! It definitely helped clarify some things. So, are you saying that I can go to the "qualified" board since I have more than 6 months civilian nursing experience, but since I have no OB experience specifically, I will have the new OB nurse identifier? Either way I'm going to NTP? Or do I go to PNC? I was kind of confused about that part. I don't mind going to NTP. My concern is just getting pushed back to the "new grad" board, which will lengthen the time it'll take for me to leave. What are the requirements to take the PNC course? Do you have to have some background in OB? Thanks again! Alyssa

Future Air Force nurse here with lots of questions!
Hi! I have met with a Health Professions Recruiter, have gone to MEPS, and have just completed my chief nurse interview. I was told my packet has been sent to the October board. Currently, I am working as a Pediatric nurse and have had a change of heart and decided that I want to be on OB nurse instead. I have only been a nurse since January this year. My recruiter has submitted my packet as a fully qualified OB nurse (I have no OB experience!). Does anyone have an idea of the chances of my packet being rejected as a fully qualified nurse since I have no experience in that area? Has anyone else decided to switch specialities like I am? If my packet does get rejected, that'll mean that it has to go to the December board (for new nurses), which means that the time for me to leave will get pushed back even further. I'm super nervous about it! How much weight does the initial chief nurse interview carry? Is he/she the one who ultimately decides your fate?! Thanks! Alyssa
