Just wondering who all has/is submitting their application for the October due date for the AF for the up and coming boards?
just got this text from my recruiter, "I will be finding out this moring. I can tell u that there is no truth to the 2009 applicants thing".Hang in there!!!
I hope there's no truth to the 2009 applicant thing...that's just what I was told. I'm interested in finding out if you're selected since we have a year of experience. Good luck! :)
Just heard from my recruiter this morning that I was selected!! However, he said I am alternate #2 for assignments as they do not have an assignment and slot for me at this time. He said I would not be competing again for a position but would get the first available Emergency Room slot. He told me he expected that to be before March but could not guarantee anything, only that I was indeed "selected". I hope you all have good news to share as well!

WooHoo Congratulations!!
I hope that I too am a selectee! Would be awesome to find out this week so if it was good news, could be shared at Thanksgiving! If not good news, I'd rather wait and find out after Thanksgiving!
Everyone have a great Turkey Day!!
*Also, just wondering what everyone's specialty is here or what specialty you submitted your packet for? It looks as though most of you are hoping for some kind of ICU/Critical Care/Med/Surg/ED areas? I am in for NICU/OB/LDR (basically babies!!).
Well, I got the call at noon. I am NOT selected. She said there were a lot of applicants. She said she believed they chose around 27. This is a different number that people previously mentioned. She said she had been doing this for 3 years and this is the first time that NONE of her applicants got in. We were all rejected and she is astounded. She said she will follow up and would like to submit my packet again since I had so much experience. The one thing she said that floored me was that in her experience re-submitting a packet...she never had someone picked second time around. She said she'll have to get the packets back first so she can follow up and find out perhaps what went wrong. She did say the applications are good for 6 months and she can put them back in again March time frame. I am sooo sad right now. I was so sure I was going to be selected.
BY THE WAY...SHE SAID SHE KNEW THIS NEWS SINCE TWO WEEKS INTO NOVEMBER..SO SHE HAS KNOWN FOR A WEEK. SHE SAID SHE HAD TO MUSTER UP THE STRENGTH TO TELL ALL HER APPLICANTS THEY WERE DENIED. So those who haven't heard...need to call their recruiters!!!! They likely know already, and could be with-holding your info decisions!
Congrats to those who do make it this time around. My area was MICU on the application. I'm not sure how many applied for those spots or how many there actually were. Good luck....
I just spoke to my recruiter and I am on the non-select list! I have been waiting for 2 years for this and to not be selected is very disappointing. He said that they had 8 applicants for 1 NICU position. When I asked about OB/LDR, he said that they normally will take and select new grads for these positions and put them through the NTP OB rotation. I am at a complete loss as to what to do with my life and career at this point! :hdvwl:
just got the call, no good. here are the stats:
ICU nurses taken: 0
ER nurses taken: 0
neonatal ICU: 1
Total nurses nationwide: 11
he read it to me from his sheet. sorry to the rest of us, good luck to those who don't know, and the next board is January. (I'm sure the er nurse above is counted some other way, other than er hire).
Ugggg! Those are horrible numbers! I am so sad. I don't know what to do now... The recruiter told me that the next board was around March??? ...not January. I will be on my recruiter like white on rice if that's the case. She did say that no one has ever been selected from a second resubmission of a packet of her applicants in her 3 years of doing this...sigh.... is this true everyone? :nuke:
Could it have been 11 new grad hires and 16 fully qualified hires, for 27 total hires?
There was 1 ER nurse hired (fully qualified, and given a COT date and assignment) and alternates (not sure how many).
I'm not a nurse, but have been following this as my husband is a nurse who applied and was sent to these boards. He is ER and was selected as an alternate.
What I am still confused about is what it means to be an alternate. Does anyone know? I mean, are we hoping he gets a spot before the next board and if not he has to be resubmitted? Or will he never have to do the board thing again?

Thanks sooo much. :) I will letcha know when I know. I'm affraid if they are taking 2009 aplicants over 2010...no amount of years of experience is going to help! I only recently have ICU experience, but about 8 in telemetry with a little in endoscopy:) We'll see....I'm still petrified that she will tell me better luck next time, and I'm preparing for it
If anyone else hears anything, let us all know!
