I'm just curious if anyone else is applying for the Air Force FY 2019 boards as FQ that start Oct 8th? I am going in as clinical nurse but have ER experience.
I am just beginning to look at Air Force Nursing as an option, I have my Master's and half way to my FNP. I work as a nurse at the VA for the past 8 years. I would like to discuss the process, salary, educational opportunities, and potential careers with a recruiter, but I want to ensure I am given the correct information. I have a family and it would be difficult if we had to move around a lot. Any information would be appreciated.
RN4KU,
Yeah, the military is not for you if you have an issue with moving a lot. You're guaranteed to move at least every 4 years on active duty; it's possible you could move as frequently as every 2 years. On top of that, you can deploy as often as 6 months in an 18 month period.
Reserves or guard may be a better option for you to serve in a less all-encompassing way. You won't every have to move if you don't want to.
Assuming they still take MSN NPs when you apply, you can google the pay for an O-3 with 0 years of time in service. That would be my guess at your starting rank/pay.
Congrats! My husband got his call today too. We’ve been watching to see if anyone else had gotten a call. Did you get any info on when/where you’re going? He got the only ED nurse spot but that’s all we know for now. Recruiter said he would get us the rest of the details as soon as he gets them.

That is the same info I got from mine too.
