Air Force FY 2019

Published

I'm just curious if anyone else is applying for the Air Force FY 2019 boards as FQ that start Oct 8th? I am going in as clinical nurse but have ER experience.

I applied Med-Surg. Good luck! Post if you receive any news!

Good luck guys!

I am applying for FQ ICU this month.

Good-luck Jdog! Boards meet today!

Is anyone else on this thread from Texas?

I am for GA area

Any one else applying for FQ ICU this week's board.

I believe there are 2-3 more. You will find them on this thread and the other one posted for this board.

This is a questions for Jfratian, I recently found out that there are 200 applicants to the October board. This 200 includes HPSP and NP. My question is do nurse practitioners take up clinical, ICU and other specialty spots? I thought they had their own board?

The AF Nurse Corps may very well be considering all applicants in one direct accession board. However, but that's just for efficiency...i.e. making many decisions at one big meeting. It saves on travel expenses for all the Colonels.

NPs are not competing with RNs for jobs. Further, ICU nurses are not competing with general clinical nurses. There are a separate number of jobs for each. Before they choose candidates, they've already decide how many of each job they need.

Great explanation! Do you know if 200 is considered a lot of applicants for a board? Sorry so many questions you're just very knowledgeable.

I really don't know what the typical number of applicants are. That number really wouldn't mean anything out of context. You'd have to know how many people are applying for the job you're applying for; half of those 200 could be nursing students or general clinical nursing candidates.
