Air Force FY 2015

Published

Is anyone else on here applying for FY 2015 for Air Force? I'm in the process of applying for the selection board in October 2014 and it would be great to hear from someone else also applying for the end of this year! :)

That is not true. I do not have prior flight experience and I an applying for a flight nurse position. I have been in contact with the chief nurse and recruiter and they did not say I could not apply.

Well, I guess I learn something new every day. I will tell you that it can't be a very common thing, because the people I went to COT who had been accepted to do air evac all seemed to have some combo of ICU and fight experience. It's a sought-after specialty with a lot of internal candidates. I would advise you to apply for other specialties/branches if it at all possible in addition to flight nursing.

I've never gone through the flight physical myself, but I've heard that just about anything you need meds for will require a waiver.

Im sure it depends base to base and the amount of people you have applying. There really is not that many options at our base for nurse. You are either Clinical and Flight so my options are limited. I am also apply guard not active.

Oh, guard is way different. Active duty applicants don't pick their bases; they apply to a general nation-wide pool.

I am applying for OCT 2014 board

Specializes in NICU.

What kind of nursing do you do?

I am currently working in inpt and outpt mental health

Are you trying to go in as a psych nurse or med/surg? Have you gone to MEPS yet?

I am going into flight nursing. . No I just turned in my preapplication. However it's taking my recruiter ages to ever get back to me.

How far are you in the application process? I still have to go to MEPS and interview. Most of my other paperwork is in, just waiting for my recruiter to come back from leave to schedule everything else.

Are you applying as a FQ nurse or new grad?

Specializes in ER; MH; LTC.

I have only placed my preapplication paper work in at this point. My recruiter told me she would be sending another check off list of things to do but I have not seen this. The process is taking ages for she is the only one that works with officers.

What is an FQ nurse? I am not applying for a new grad for I have had my licence for over a year now.

Do you have a date for meps yet? What was your next step after preapplication paperwork? are you applying for Guard or Active?

Specializes in NICU.

I'm applying for Active Duty fully qualified for a NICU slot. FQ is when you have a year or more experience in whatever specialty nursing you're applying for.

No, no date for MEPS yet. I've put all my medical paperwork in for it, but my recruiter is on leave until the 27th. So hopefully I can go within the next few weeks. I've put in my whole application packet and all my letters of recommendation, working on the 9 questions, gave him my resume. Trying to work on getting everything in, so I can schedule my nursing officer interview.
