Is anyone else on here applying for FY 2015 for Air Force? I'm in the process of applying for the selection board in October 2014 and it would be great to hear from someone else also applying for the end of this year! :)

I am trying to join the Air Guard but I am having some difficulties getting my Recruiter to reply to my messages. Do you have prior enlistment to the military?

I cannot apply until December for that is when I graduate with my bsn. I am trying to get information bit it's hard to get my recruiter to email me back. What have you heard for the length of time you turn you application in to swearing in?

I can give you information on the Air Force recruiting process, the one I got from my recruiter. I was going to apply for this summers NTP program but due to some problems I was unable to.

as a young graduate the Air Force not is you only choice since as far as I know they are the only ones that accept young graduate nurses.

You can actually start the process now, most of what has to be done, is done by yourself, the recruiter just gives you a list of things that he needs and you provide them for him, all he does is put the package together, sets up the interview, has you sign paperwork, and requesting the authorization to fiscal from the MEPS.

You on the other hand need to answer nine questions essay style, do a resume for them, get three recommendation letters, have your transcripts sent to him and some other thing.

Any questions feel free

I'm planning to go into the air guard. I have over a years experience as an Rn. I have the preapp paperwork but had questions on a few of the questions but my recruiter has not got back to me. What did you mean "you on the other hand need to answer a 9 questions essay? I am familiar with the 9 deminsion since it's required at my work.

Don't fret about recruiters not answering you. That's how many officer recruiters are. They have way more applicants than spots, and therefore aren't very responsive. Persistence is the key. By the way, nurses never 'enlist,' they 'commission.'

what has you Recruiter ask you to date?

what have you done, to get the process started?

I was in the process of applying for NTP this summer but my recruiter messed up and didn't get my medical records in time (I'm prior service) is I was unable to apply.

but since I have one year experience in the ER, I'm now in the process of applying for the fully qualified nurse board in October.

you have to make sure to stay in top of you Recruter to get everything done on time.

They have only gave me pre employment paperwork. As of that nothing. I have the paperwork complete just need to turn it in. One of the majors was my nursing instructor and she gave me info on the actual job but she told me there's not much else to do until paper work has been filled out.

I have sent her an email but I'll call again on my day to see what's the next step.

Im sorry to hear that they paper work has been messed up. I find that not to be uncommon. My husband just got out of officer school and we are having similar issues on getting him a school date as well the same issue getting him to officer school.

I'm applying as a fully qualified RN in the NICU. I'll have over a year experience in NICU when I go before the boards. I'm still working on giving my recruiter my resume and questions, but have given him all my MEPS paperwork (which he still has yet to schedule for me). I'm working on getting all my recommendation letters in to him, slowly but surely.

Any advice on the chief nursing officer interview? I heard that's a huge part of being selected. Or just on the whole application process in general? How long after you go before the selection board do you find out if you've been selected or not? When do you get your base, ect?

The interview really isn't that bad. They ask typical job interview stuff (talk about a time when you demonstrated critical thinking, why do you want to join the AF?, where do you see yourself in 5 years?). However, most of your 90-120 min interview is informational. They tell you about a typical 20 year career path and ask you what you're interested in. Bring a bunch of good questions.

You can't interview until MEPS has cleared you and your entire application is complete. The Chief Nurse has to review it to make a recommendation.

If September is your paperwork deadline, then the boards will meet a month later. You will then get results 2-3 weeks after that (amost 2 months from your paperwork deadline). You are typically given your base/assignment with your acceptance letter (I did, but I know some people had to wait a few extra weeks).
