Is anybody else going to COT in October? Where are you going to NTP and/or Permanent Duty Station?
I'm going to Cincinnati for NTP, and still patiently waiting for orders.
I was told the same thing. Did your recruiter tell you when we can expect orders to roll out? All I got was "sometime soon".
He does not know when or if they are rolling out. He said it's up to Congress now whether to approve the scrolls or not in time for the Oct 2016 COT. And it's highly possible that we get to join the Jan 2017 COT, though "NOTHING is official yet". It certainly makes it difficult for all of us to plan & proceed in situations like this, right?
I'm stressed out & very frustrated. But... life goes on, right?
I've been active duty for fifteen years, officer and enlisted...welcome to the military. :)
You'll have to get used to loose planning in this business; it's probably the most frustrating thing about all this.
Experience tells me to give the unsolicited advice to be ready to go in October (as ready as you can be) and expect to go in January. People drop from COT all the time - they get pregnant, get injured, have something else stop their reporting. So if you've been told you "might" go in October I'd stay in that holding pattern until told otherwise.
If you do get a call a few days before you were meant to report, and have to leave suddenly and almost unexpectedly, don't worry about a two week notice at your current job - you will have military orders, which exempts you from any sort of issues along those lines. You're covered under the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act the moment you're commissioned into the Reserves, so don't worry about that.
And yes, that sort of stuff does indeed happen. I had a flightmate at COT that got called two days before her report date.

I know exactly how you feel. But I am still holding out hope that we will get to go to COT in October. I know that some members of the August COT class did not get their orders until they were less than 2 weeks out.
