Hey folks, Facebook links are not allowed in the threads. I will be editing posts with links. Thanks!

I think it's so cute how excited you all are. You have no idea! I will say that Nellis is a far better choice than Travis. ACC vs. AMC. AMC eats their own, meaning watch your back! Langley is nice, but the area around it is ghetto. There are a LOT of brass at Langley too because that's where ACC is headquartered. I'm currently a Medic at Travis and I've been here two years, so if you have questions ask away.

Do you care to elaborate? I am not afraid of anyone "eating their young" since I strive for greatness and am the type of person to do whatever needs to be done.

Hi all,

I went to COT Aug 16-Sept18 this year. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey! Just randomly found this thread...trying to find out what to expect for COT 2016 May. I was selected for Travis AFB...if anyone has i"real" information about that base please let me know =)

-If anyone going overseas wants to switch assignments that would be great!

Any hints or tips?

So, on the COT website it recommends buying boots and low quarters before COT in order to break them in. I didn't see any information regarding which brand or style of boot to get aside from them being Sage Green. Is it safe to assume then that any Sage Green boots that meet AF requirements are acceptable? Who all is planning to get boots, low quarters, uniforms ahead of time?

Just about any sage green boot you'll find will be okay to wear with the AF uniform. I personally recommend the Nike SFB.

Okay, that's what I thought. Those are also the pair I was planning on getting. Are they pretty true to size?

They fit just like a Nike Running shoe. So, I would pick your Nike size.

Search FB group AFB COT 5-16 and join if you all would like. It's listed as a closed group now:)

I plan on ordering all my stuff before I go... Hoping to get all of it from a base? I know I won't have access until I have my military ID card though. Are the boots from a military base store uncomfortable or are you just wanting to break some in early?

It really does make things a lot easier if you can get your stuff before hand, but you'll need an ID to pick up stuff at the base store. The alterations place at Maxwell AFB is terribly slow (it takes them weeks just to sew on patches).

The 2 styles of boots they sell at Maxwell are average. They're nothing special bad or good.

Your best bet is to find someone at your local AFB who can buy your stuff for you ahead of time.
