a stressful day can make us loose it, when i loose it i laugh ,crack hysterical jokes and even sing :lol2::idea: wow, like now, when in reality, i'm smoking mad.!!!!:angryfire how do you cope, sing , act silly, go silent!!!!!!!, turn into a real monster, only you know!!!!!! tell all!!!!!!!!

Hey there newbie, well after 12 plus years I still have the same coping strategies as you do and personally I think it works fine!!! Not only can it lighten your day, but others as well! Yup at times the day just sucks!!!:angryfire But make a joke, have a giggle, play a wee SAFE trick on a colleague with a GOOD sense of humor and the day won't seem so bad. Trust me if you can lighten the day for the sick people that you care for too, they really can appreciate it; wow it might even help them improve!! Have a great next shift.:lol2:

I usually play a robin williams stand up comedy act. My favorite one is when he's talking about what chairs think about......"I wonder what chairs think about all day......" Or my personal favorite " theres one country that is not making a weapon of mass destruction, and that's jamaca. they may make an atomic bong! Yes......When the atomic bomb goes off..........theres devestation and radiation, and when the atomic bong goes off, there's celebration!!!" Or i just blast the song "dont worry be happy"

When I'm stressed I get into an interesting conversation with a patient. Their problems make mine less intense for the moment. When I'm really stressed I cry. I only did it once in 25+ yrs in the hosp. I cried daily working HH. After the perpetrators all got fired I felt much better. Oh boy, they had it coming!

When I've had a bad night, I cry--BAD. My dear, loving, wonderful husband :troll: :kiss (you get the picture) gets the brunt of my fit. I call him when I leave the hospital and cry and yell and scream all the way home. Then when I get here, I crawl up into his lap:1luvu: and finish crying it out while he holds me. Then I go to sleep.

What a life we all lead!!

That is so sweet. You are very lucky! I myself married Satan himself, so I was never the recipient of any comfort from the home front. But you give your hubby a big kiss for being such a great support system.

My husband and I have been married 30 years, and I do believe it's better now than it was in the begining. I am truly blessed--he has stood behind me thru ORT school, nursing school, failing OUT of nursing school (twice:imbar, but I made it), a very bad gambling addition that he had to bail me out of nearly $6000.00 in bad checks, behind house payments, and so on and so on. Ya know-sometime he wasn't behind me, he was in front of me pulling me out of the mess. :blushkiss I REALLY do love him. I am going right now and give him that hug!!
