Ahhh....I'm afraid I lost all my skills from last year!

I need to hit the books and videos from last year. I feel like I've got summer break fog. I think I've forgotten some skills. Let me know I'm not alone. lol

That's what you think. When you actually start school again you will be surprised how much you can remember from your previous years. I used to feel the same way as you. Now there are procedures that I don't remember step by step but you can always review. Nursing school is repetetive and there is a reason for that. They know that students will not be able to remember everything that was covered in one semester. The best way to remember things is to look over them and hear same stuff over and over again.

Because of this summer lull, I decided to take a 1 week practicum, with 8 hour days on a unit refreshing on what I did last semester. Maybe this time, I can actually perform skills that I didn't get the chance to last semester.

I can relate! I'm hitting the nursing lab to practice my skills on mannequins as soon as school starts back! I want to make SURE I remember how to start an IV or insert an NG tube before I get back into clinicals!
