Of the 23 other students comprising the group that I entered nursing school with, three of them are men. The class that is graduating at the end of next week I believe has 1 male student, and as far as I know the class immediately behind mine has 1 as well. This is about 60 students (some classes have had students drop), with 6 of them being males; that's only 1 in 10.
So we know that male nurses are few and far between, but how old are we?
The 1 student in the class graduating next week is 28.
The 1 student in the class that entered the semester after mine is at least 30 (a second career-er I believe).
Of the 4 in my class, 2 are about 45, 1 is 40, and then there is me...21.

I'm in my first year of my ASN at 24. Husband to a wonderful wife, Dad to 3 great kiddos. Out of the class of 67 that I am in, 7 of us are guys. I'm the second youngest at 24. The others are 22, 29, 33, 45, 37, and 38. Oh wait, there was a 19 year old but he dropped last week....

Posted a whole back, but wanted to update. There are now 5 guys in my class (my class is the amazing class of 2013! Graduating around this time next year!) I am one of the 5. We are about to wrap up the second semester of our first year in an ADN program. I am the youngest in my class. Started at 18 (currently 19) will finish at 20! The other guys are currently 23, 25, 35, and 53! I have an awesome class!

I'm 42, will be 43 by the time I graduate for my RN. It's my second career and still plan on going all the way to DNP. SO, I'll probably be 50 by then.
I'll be 32 when I start..well granted I pass the interview they scheduled for me. However i do feel like I should have completed this already at this age.
I'm 44 now. I started taking pre-reqs a few years back at a partnering CC. I got in for Fall 2012 at the local NS and it's a 2 yr program, so I'll be 46 when I get out. Like many of you, it's something I've thought of doing for a while and it's finally going to happen. PSYCHED!!
