Knowing what I know and I might be off base a bit...the age range for active and reserves is 21-42. With that being said, you can waiver if you are over 42 which usually isn't an issue. Your recruiter should have been on top of that way before your application was supposed to go to boards.
amedd is accepting nurses up to 60 years of age w/ a two year committment for 45 to 60, so the age waiver shouldn't be an issue. I think w/ the two year committment you don't get the student loan repayment nor the bonus.
Patty, I mentioned it in the other thread, please ask your recruiter about your transcript situation. I know I had to turn in official sealed transcripts from my schools. I would hate to see you have another set back.
Is your recruiter amedd? I just don't get the age waiver thing that should be a given especially with alot of us signing up
they said the transcripts were cool, did anyone else here do the age in grade waiver? I want them to help me pay for my msn eventually my student loans have been long paid off. Is this waiver a long and drawn out process? I passed the physical with flying colors. is it another 50 page form? I think it has something to to with in 20 years I will be 63 years and 3 months old instead of only 63 years. If they wouldnt have tooted around for so long...........never mind, took them 6 months to get the physical.

Hi Patty,
I have an "age waiver"--I signed on when I was 46 (this year before my bday).
It was no issue. I signed for 6yrs and recieved the 30K signon & 50K slrp......Even though we are AMEDD we still need the waivers. I agree with Lahlee....your recruiter's tech missed this, not you.......
Just got back from OBLC----FABULOUS experience!!!!
HOOAH :) !!!!!!

Are you RC? I wish I could get that combo for AD... it is either/or for us (if I take the SLRP I can only get a $10,000 sign-on not the $30K) I won't need more than the 50K for loans, so the extra bonus cash would be nice.
Anyway, good hearing from you again!

Hi,
Yes I am RC...and I signed-on in FY 08, I am not sure what the '09 bonuses are....
I hear you can take-out loans during your school (while on Strap, if you do a BSN) and then get the loans repaid afterwards......another way to do it......:)

what is this? I got this today from the recruiter."You did not make the 18 Nov board, but we are try to get you to the 2
Dec board. If that doesn't work we will try to get you there on the 21
January board. You need an age and age in grade waiver, so that's why I
cant say which one for sure. As soon as I get something on it, I will
make sure you know. "
this is for reserves not active, does anyone know what this means?
We as officers not only have to meet maximum total age but each commissioned rank has a max age. Depending on what grade you will be coming in as, requires a waiver if you are over the max. I was 36 when I got my commission as 2LT and required a waiver for that. It is usually not a problem unless you are over 40 and have to understand you may not be able to do a full 20 yrs for retirement (mandatory removal date is age 60). Everyone I know has still gotten in with that in mind.
Hello All:
Just wanted to add my
You can get an age waiver up to and including age 68 (yup, 68) as long as the Army needs your MOS/ASI....which means if you are a 66H8A or 66H5M you could receive said age waiver:
1) if you were physically and mentally able to continue to work as an Army Nurse
2) if the Army still has a need and a critical shortage of Army Nurses in the near future (well, "near future" for me, hahahaha)
So even though you will not have enough years in to retire after 20 - like me, if you so desire you can request to stay in up to and including age 68.
When I was in Germany Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), the buzz on post was that a 72 year old Reservist was called up and asked if she would like to go to LRMC and work 6-9 months on one of the floors. And she said yes! The same day she was arriving on post Laura Bush (wife of Pres. Bush) was expected to tour the Hospital so security was super tight and I didn't get a chance to see either woman!

I have 17 good years in the reserve pension system it looks like I will be 53 or 54 when I become a ADN.If I became a army reserve ADN with an age waiver I would not have 10 years of service as an officer by age 62 but would have well over 20 good reserve years.
(1) it seems that I might receive an age waiver?
(2) I would retire at my highest enlisted rank?
(3) or at the officer rank I might hold at 62 years of age?
I think you have to have 10 years service to retire as an officer but not sure
