I'm currently in my 1st semester of nursing at the College of Staten Island. I'm the only African american male student in my class and i was wondering if there are any scholarships for male nursing students in general or specifically African american males nursing students. Also i feel the teachers dont help us in becoming "genuine" nurses and everything feels so rushed. Any advice on how to get through these next couple months of nursing school. (P.S. This is an ADN Program)

Yes there are. A Google search yields specific scholarships for what you've requested.
My advice on getting through the program is exercise. Mountain biking has been my sweet relief.

Thanks for sharing your post. Congrats on making it as far as you have. My suggestion to you (in regards to the pace) is to research the program before you are blindsided. So if you plan on going for your BSN, be sure that the length of courses are appropriate for YOU, as you know yourself as a learner better than anyone. Good luck!

Yes the ADN program is rushed. A lot of information to cover in a 2-year program. Also, nursing schools are heavily scrutinized by NCLEX scores creating a teach to the test war of attrition atmosphere. Your study technique should also focus on being able to correctly answer NCLEX style test questions. Once you become an RN you never have to deal with attitude again in higher nursing education.

So you've gone on the internet and identified yourself via your demographics before issuing a criticism of your program. Unwise.
I'd urge you to change your username immediately and request that this post be edited or deleted.

Since the OP has not been active since October, 2015 I doubt he will read your advice.
The general caution makes the post worthwhile and, honestly, it's not worth my time to check the original post dates on bumped threads nor last-active dates for users.
To your post, though, I share your doubt.
