Aesthetic Nursing-how do I prepare for an interview for this position?

I am a fairly new graduate and have been working in hospice for 4 months on a per diem basis. However, I am really wanting to go into aesthetic nursing, and I have an interview coming up. I am super nervous since I really don't know really what type of interview questions I would be asked for such a position. Any tips/opinions/advice would greatly be appreciated!

None really. But they are willing to train me. I'm reading all about aesthetics and techniques and muscles in the face, botox, etc. etc. etc. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before the interview.

I'd recommend Milady's aesthetician series of books (though I guess if your interview is soon you wouldn't be able to get your hands on them quick enough) Learn about chemical peels (TCA, Jessner's peel, Lactic acid, glycolic acid), dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. I'd think enthusiasm and a personal interest in this area will help.

I have work in aesthetic plastic surgery and now manage the clinic and med spa.

When I am interviewing a potential new nurse, I am looking for the whole package. I want someone who has a great rapport with every client, no matter how difficult or demanding -- we do not have a captive audience, so to speak, and if that client considers you a friend right off the bat, they are more likely to come back.

Clinical skills have to be excellent. There are times when a patient needs an IV (for instance, a procedure under conscious sedation) and there is no IV team there to heal you get the IV. I need you to be able to do a focused exam that is quick but thorough, and I need meticulous documentation (we don't have a department to audit your charting).

I want someone who is comfortable selling (and upselling) to clients. If their schedule is light, they are emailing and calling people to fill the exam rooms.

Most of my nurses have been to aesthetic school, and can do facials and skin consultations. I have one who studied photonics and is our expert in laser and light therapies of all kinds (from fraxel to laser hair reduction to IPL). If you do not have something like this that really makes you stand out in this industry, come to me with a plan for how you are going to become the best nurse in town at xyz.

Can a WHNP work in aesthetics under her NP license or are they normally FNPs who are hired as cosmetic and aesthetic practices (I am assuming most patients are female and that's why i ask)? Is the work a normal RN would do the same as an NP would do in the same practice? If not, what are the differences?
