  1. None really. But they are willing to train me. I'm reading all about aesthetics and techniques and muscles in the face, botox, etc. etc. etc. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before the interview.
  2. I am a fairly new graduate and have been working in hospice for 4 months on a per diem basis. However, I am really wanting to go into aesthetic nursing, and I have an interview coming up. I am super nervous since I really don't know really what type of interview questions I would be asked for such a position. Any tips/opinions/advice would greatly be appreciated!
  3. Hi, I'm guessing you had the interview by now? I was wondering what questions YOU were asked? I am preparing to become an aesthetic nurse and am having an interview real soon, and have NO idea what exactly I should be preparing for. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!
  4. Thanks a lot for the info about pharm class! I just started a few days ago on that blue packet that he gave us in the first orientation. I’m almost done with that… I’ve also been trying to read the pharm book to be prepared, but I’m unsure of what exactly I should be reading and studying. How does he test on the second half of the semester? I mean, should I be memorizing definitions and terms, or drug side effects, etc. etc.??
  5. Thank you so much everyone! Everyone's words of encouragement brought tears to my eyes. I keep on telling myself to focus on just one day at a time. I've been severely depressed once before in my life and I'm going to try everything possible to not let that happen again! I hope my husband and my marriage works out. I really want it to. We are both very stubborn people though. Divorce papers are just sitting in the office waiting to be filled out, but I'm hoping to delay all that until we are both on more steady ground. I plan on going to nursing school in 6 days and I'm going to try my best at it. I'll just deal with things as they come along. Thanks again everyone. And thanks Jamie for the free offer to "talk"; I may take you up on it sometime.
  6. So these past few months have been really hard on me. I just got accepted into the nursing program (yay), but my personal life seems to be falling apart. I really have no one to talk to... I'm so afraid that nursing school is going to be nearly impossible, if not completely impossible, if my personal life doesn't turn for the better. I've been with my husband for about 4 years, and right now we are talking about getting a divorce. I still love my husband terribly, we just have incompatibilty issues with living together. Leaving him and seeing him with someone else will tear me into two. It's so hard to wake up in the morning and getting on with life when I think about our situation. On top of this, my parents are the ones who are paying for my college, because I have no job. Well, with the economy going down the drain my Dad is on the brink of losing his job, which means they might have to leave the state so they could live "cheaper". The thing is, with my husband and I being divorced, I live with my parents. With my Dad losing his job means I have no place to go and no money to pay for school. I haven't even entered nursing school and I'm near a break down. I start school in exactly 6 days and I'm so afraid. I hear the program is incrediably time consuming and extremely hard. I just don't know how I'm going to deal with school and my everyday life. I feel myself sinking into a deep depresion and I know I have to try to snap out of it, but it's too hard. *sigh*
  7. Thanks Erin for the last isbn! I just bought this book yesterday for a pretty good deal, I think. I'm not sure what it's going for at the school, but if you all purchase the Davis Drug Guide for Nurses from borders.com you can get a really good deal on it. The original price on borders for this book is $40.95, but if you enter the promotional code of BRW5734X it takes 30% off. The total would be $31.03 with tax and shipping. It's the best deal I could find online. Hope it works for you too! :-) ...Oh, and the 30% offer only lasts until 1/21/09
  8. hey everyone-- i've been emailing this gal that is in the program as well with us and she has all the isbn #'s and everything. she just emailed me today with them and i thought i would pass the info along. 1. fundamentals of nursing by kozier (8th edition) isbn number 9780131714687 2. fund. of nursing study guide (matches the above book) isbn 9780131889385 3. fund. of nursing clinical handbook (matches above books) isbn 9780131889330 4. nursing diagnosis manual (2nd edition) isbn 9780803618596 5. davis drug guide for nurses (2008) - this is the only book she didn't have the isbn # for, but she said she will try to get it to me sometime this week. i'll pass on the info if she does. or if anyone else has the #... maybe you could share. :-) 6. medical-surgical nursing: assessment and management of clinical problems, (7th edition) author: sharon l. lewis isbn: 9780323036900 7. pharmacology and the nursing process by linda lane lilley, scott harrington, julie s. snyder (paperback - 2007-02-36) isbn-13: 9780323044868 8. 9. That's interesting about the book reservations, because I just called today and they told me that all nursing book boxes are on the shelf. We can just walk in and buy them; at least that's what she said. I guess $500 isn't too too bad for a year. I just wasn't expecting to pay it all at once. I was thinking more along the lines of paying $200-250 each semester. Oh well. There almost seems no way of ordering the books online since the school is not giving us detailed info about the books. Angie wrote me back and just gave me the list of books without author and without isbn.
  10. Ouch $495 is really steep! Yes, what Bella asked... could you post the books and isbn #'s we need? I just wrote Angie to see if she'll give the book list, if she writes back and gives me the list I'll post it here. Good luck with your Pharm class tomorrow! Keep us posted! Laila
  11. Ah, I too am a type 1 diabetic of 16 years. I just got into nursing school and I am hoping that my diabetes won't in the way of my career choice. I'm on the pump as well. Diabetes hasn't stopped me from pursing any of my other dreams, so I'll be darned if it stops me now. ;-p
  12. Hey-- I know this is a delayed response to this forum, but I thought you all would have the best answer for me. I just got into the nursing program myself, I start Spring 09 and I am needing to get the Kozier book. I want to order it online, but the people on amazon have a lot of comments saying that the nursing books online don't give the "My Nursing Lab" access code. Does Mt. Sac use this? Should i buy this book from Mt. Sac. Or will I be safe without the code? Thanks...
  13. I was or am an alternate too, but I'm not exactly sure. I mean I was an alternate, but then I got a letter that said "Congratulation, you are finally on the most exciting final two years of your journey to becoming a nurse. We are excited to have you and welcome you to the Nursing Program at Mt. San Antonio College..." Does this mean I am still an alternate or they accepted me? This letter didn't mention anything about still being an alternate, so I'm guessing that I am one of the 96??? Did you get this letter Bella or did you get another? Math is really the only thing that I am confident in for this test. If we don't pass and we get into the remediation program that means it will delay our process into the program. I think if I don't pass then I am going to say heck with that school, and try for another school next semester. Mt. Sac was actually one of my last choices for a school (just because they don't accept my communications class that I've already taken and ALL the other schools do!). If we both do end up getting into this program and we cross paths maybe we can get together and I can help you on your math while you can help me in... whatever else. haha.
  14. Hey Bella- I went to the orientation for Mt. Sac today for spring 2009. I'm taking the HESI tomorrow at the library. I'm nervous. Everyone tells me it's basic stuff, but I've always been horrible in reading comprehension. What did you think of today's orientation?
