Published

As a soon to be RN graduate is there any advice that you can give, that you yourselves wished you had known prior to being employed as an RN?

Talk less. Listen more.

learn as much as you can from anybody you can learn from. that would be...pretty much everybody. it might not always be what you expect. as my sweet old grandmother used to say, "some people are put on this earth to be an example to others. one way or another."

oh, and when you get those little dehydrating crystals with electronics? save them and put them in your work shoes overnight.:smokin:

If it's not too late, get a job as a CNA/PCT/NA. It won't guarantee you a RN job after graduation, but it can help you get the foot in the door as an internal candidate.

I'm not getting the little dehydrating crystal thing....? Wait I think I just got it, cause your shoes stink from working long hours?

No, your shoes stink because your feet smell. :uhoh3:

And the crystals help get the excess sweat/moisture out of the shoes.

Well, it's probably too late to tell you to run, so here's the next best piece of advice I can give you: Get yourself into the hospital. Better still, if you like an area of nursing better than others, get yourself a position in that area.

Hysterical laughter @MN-Nurse & "rolling eyes" smiley!!! :D:lol2:

I'm a recent new grad who just got hired and my piece of advise would be to join a residency program....if you want proper training and your are one of those people that needs to know whats going on before you actually get put on the spot. If I had to go back I would probably do this....now all I have to do....is learn from my experiences as much as I can...."sink or swim" kind of deal.
