NP full scope/independent speculation

There are many states (19 at last count) that allow for independent practice. I know this may be purely speculation but what are other states you've "heard" are close to adding themselves to "independent" the list? I'm doing a little research on the availability of care due to the forward thinking practice of including NPs as first-line primary care providers sans handcuffs.

As BostonFNP points out, keeping tabs through the AANP and your state NP group can provide a wealth of information regarding legislative information.

Tennessee has introduced a bill for full practice authority.

Florida is working on it again as well as prescriptive rights.

It looks like Florida is advocating for CNS to also have prescriptive authority. It appears there is a great need for psych providers.

The states that go for independent practice for NPs tend to include us as APRNs. I do locum tenens and there are a handful of states i cannot work in.

Nebraska became the 20th state as of yesterday. I agree that hooking into the AANP network is the best way to keep up with this issue. I am hopeful that my state (NJ) will eventually pass independent/full practice, but I am not holding my breath. A bill to do so has previously died in the legislature. And as long as our Dear Governor is in office, I am 99.9999999% sure we will not have independent practice. 2017 (next election) can't come fast enough!

AtomicWoman - I was just going to say I received an email about Nebraska this week! I go to Creighton so I get updates on Nebraska news even though I live in Washington. Congrats!
