Advance Parole......Lets Talk About It

After so many months of anxiously waiting, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel (may be July 2005) for end of retrogression. I want you guys for some valuable comments/informations regarding advance parole. Is this for real? I heard alot of stories specially from PIC citizens, that were not able to go back to USA after they avail of themselves with advance parole permit and went home for short vacations. Thanks. Happy Threading!

Let me ask you a question. You said two copies, why? Do they take one when you arrive to the US. How many entries youa re allowed to make on AP?

Thank you!

One of my I-131 was also taken when I traveled.

I am assuming that this is only first time.

Next time they will just give me a stamp.

Anyway,whenever you want,you will travel with 131.

Have a nice trip!

What is a valid reason to get an AP? I've been here for a year, had an AOS and I miss my family will that be a good reason to apply for AP? Thanks in advance for you inputs on this.

Please be very aware that having the I-131 does not guarantee that you will be admitted to the US when you return. Highly recommend that you only leave the country for an emergency, not just for a routine visit.

Makes much more sense to wait until you have the green card in hand. Have seen it happen when the person is not permitted back into the US. Take a close look at the visa and it states just that. Do not chance not being able to re-enter.

Well, my ticket is booked. I depart in May. So I'll let you know. I am not too concerned. If they dont want me here, cool, Ill make my life at home.

Good luck

How long will you be away? Is it limited or does applicants for AP decide when they want to comeback? Pls do shed some light to this when you come back. What was the reason you made to ask for AP? Goodluck!

Well, I am going for two weeks. I dont know for how long one can be gone. But if your employer sponsors you green card and you get EAD, I dont think you can earn longer vacation within the first year. I can only take 2 weeks vacation.

I dont have any specific reason. Just want to see my family.

I just submit my request for a two weeks' of vacation. If it is approved by the nursing office, I will be using my AP in May as well. Good luck to everyone!

does anybody know what other documents i should also bring with me when i am using the advanced parole paper?

1. passport valid for at least 6 months

2. receipt notice for the i-485 form showing i have filed for pr (i only have a copy of this receipt. the original one is with my lawyer. is a copy one ok?

3. a letter from my department verifying my employment (are the copies of pay check be ok? or i have to go to the hr to get such a letter?

what else?

those who have used ap before please help me out. i will be leaving the u.s. next monday. i have only less than a week to get all the paperwork ready.

thanks a lot!

I am back! The trip was wonderful. The process is very easy. All I was asked to show was the ap paper and passpoart.

Glad to hear that you had a good time. But again, it is 100% up to the person that is in immigration when you return and no one has any control over that.

I have seen people questioned for more than three hours before being allowed in, and others have just gotten waived thru. There is no rhyme or reason about it, but just what happens. And it also states so directly on the visa. And they mean it.
