Hey everyone! I came here looking for some advice. I am a pre-nursing student that plans to petition an start the nursing program next Fall 2014 semester. By that time I will be completely done with all my pre-reqs. I have a 3 yr old daughter who will be 4 by the time I start the program and I just found out I am pregnant with my second and due this December . I am going to be 22 in July. Do you think I will be able to complete nursing school? Any advice from mommies already in nursing school? Advantages and disadvantages? Any further advice? Thanks!!

You can do anything if you are determined enough and work really hard. I have 5 kids ages 9, 7, 6, 3, and 16 months. I start the ADN fall 2013. I started college in 2007 when I had a 3, 2, and 1 year old. I since had 2 kids in that time and still continued to get my pre-reqs done. It took me 5 years to do pre-reqs because I had to go slow because of the kids. If I can do it, so can you. Work and study hard and YOU CAN DO IT :) Good luck. I was also a breastfeeding mom, so I even found time during A&P 2 to pump bottles in a 4 week intense course (got an A-)!

You absolutely can. :) I have a 6 and 7 year old, and several people in my class have babies at home. One had a baby halfway thru the semester! It will make a few things more of a challenge, but such is the life of a mom. Even grocery shopping is more of a challenge. Just adapt and dive in. You can do it. Good luck!

I have a 5 year old and my husband and I want to have another one soon . I am just starting my pre- reqs now so I know I will be in for a long journey but if you have the drive and determination to get through it and see the award at the end then YES, you can do it. As long as you have a good support system and find ways to make it work for both you and your growing family. GOOD LUCK!

I have a very energetic 20 month old baby girl.. I find that daycare, family and friends are all very helpful.. Get it finished while they are young so they won't fret over your absence too badly.

The vast majority of my classmates are single mothers. They keep up better than the sudents with no kids because they have something on the line. I know you can do it. Just do it!

I have a two year old and an 11 month old. I am currently 3-4 months pregnant. I'm not sure of how many weeks I am coz I'm too busy to keep track of that. I am almost through with my Pre Reqs. I started in fall of 2012 just 2 months after having a baby. Applied and enrolled for the entrance exam the week I had a baby. Prepared for the exam and took it after a month of having a baby.
In a nut shell, you can. My GPa is currently 4.0 and I hope to maintain it coz I have 2 more prereqs left. I will be due in October and will be taking a class regardless.
I have no helper. I took care of my kids alone. Husband had to leave for work the next day after we arrived from the hospital.
No family members around, no friends, I and I only.
You can! Be determined and stay focused.

Absolutely possible! I have an almost 2 year old and am 6 months pregnant with my second. I work 2 jobs & am doing nursing school. Just be focused and make sure your hubby understands that he will need to help you out a lot. Also know that nursing programs are not very lenient with pregnancies. They won't take "oh, I can't do {this} because I'm pregnant."
