ADN students with previous bachelor's?

Are there any students here with previous bachelor's degrees who are getting an ADN instead of a BSN (accelerated or otherwise)?

Yes. I have a previous bachelor's degree with a major in Biology and am applying to the ADN program here at a local community college.

Most of the people in my micro class that were going into their second year of Nusing school(ADN) had bachelors already

I have a bachelors and am in my 2nd year of an ADN program. I couldn't afford a 4 year program.

I have a B.A. in English and am just beginning my ADN program. I wonder if a B.A. will be a complement to an RN?

I have a B.S. in Biotechnology and went to school for my ADN. I figured why spend extra money on those extra years of school when I can just go for 2 years and get the same license.

I have a previous bachelors and I am starting an accelerated RN program in a couple weeks. It is 9 months and I will have an ASN. You have to complete the general prereq's but it is acclerated and it's 2 years put into 9months!!!!:uhoh3: They have a great NCLEX pass rate at the school too.

Yes, I have a BS (Health Care Administration) and I'll be starting the ADN-RN class in five days. I do, however, plan to pursue an RN to MSN. The main reason why I chose not to go straight into an Accelerated BSN program is because I live about 1.5 miles from a CC with an excellent NCLEX pass rate and it's cheap.

i have a previous ba in sociology, and am going for the adn-rn. later after my kids are older i'll prob take the bridge program for peeps like us. it's an adn to msn. i hear it's a great program and in 2 yrs you receive your bsn and your msn. but right now i just want to get the experience and a paycheck to help my kids go to college and pay off a bunch of bills.

Me too! I am hoping that maybe down the line for some extra side cash I can write for a nursing newsletter or something of that nature. My degree got me a job @ Border's! One thing is for sure, my grammar will always be top notch on the MAR!

I am doing an accelerated ASN program as well. You have to have all of the pre-reqs/co-reqs done and a previous bachelors degree and you can complete the program in ~12 months. My previous BS is in Human Biology and I decided not to go the Accelerated BSN or tradition BSN route since the NCLEX rates of the CC are much better and tuition is cheaper. I figured I could get my ASN and then hopefully get a job that will help pay for my RN-MSN degree.

I also have a Bachelor's degree, and I am applying for the ADN program. I don't feel like going back to school for another 4 years. I'm ready to persue my dream of being a nurse, and having a "real job"!!!!:lol2:
