2014 ADN program for CFCC

Has anyone got back their scores for their PSB? I guess they decided not to take 180 students this semester and still only 70!

Hope I get in!

Oh I mis-read CFCC I go to FCC and applied for their ADN program!! lol sorry but good luck to you.

I wish more people were talking about CFCC 2014 admissions. I am an applicant....did pretty well on the PSB-high 90th% for most, aside from SPELLING. I didn't have many pre-reqs done though. The PSB results were mailed 2 business days after I took it.

Hey Johnny.

If you go back and look at past years you may get a better idea what point totals got in and which ones didn't. You may also want to look at the RIBN program if you don't have that many pre-reqs done. It can be quite challenging to be in Nursing classes and still trying to get the remaining pre-reqs completed especially if they are the science related pre-reqs. I believe last year the number was around 350 for the lowest score that actually got accepted and then it went down to about 335 for the last alternate. I don't know how many alternates were eventually accepted but I have heard that many of the alternates do end up getting in for various reasons the original accepted group goes to a different school, or any number of reasons they decide not to attend CFCC. Good luck to you.

I received my score 2 days after the test; I am applying to both RIBN and ADN. I also feel I did well. Most people seem to be doing very well on the PSB this time around scoring in the 90s in all but one area. I think it will be close. I really want RIBN though.

Seems everyone I know is in that boat; high scores in all but one haha. Spelling was my highest and nonverbal was my lowest.

Now that its mid-March, has anyone heard anything yet? I have a feeling of limbo, as though I may have forgotten to do something.

Received letter to come in for point count today. Point count runs next week Mon-Fri from 9-5:45 I believe, I don't have the letter in front of me.

Hey johnny, did you get in?

Hey Ryan,

Question for you...if you were accepted into both RIBN and ADN which would you have taken? I was accepted into ADN but am awaiting news on RIBN. I scored in the 92nd % overall (score divided by 700) but I don't know if I will get in. I sort of think RIBN would be better for me because of child care--but I don't know. Thoughts?

Hi SunKissed That is great and congrats on getting into the ADN program. As for you question, there is no simple answer. RIBN is a 4 year program and you would not start your nursing classes until 2015. You also have to meet UNCW requirements for a bachelors degree, which means more classes and a foreign language. If you have already completed a large number of pre-reqs for the ADN then it may be better to do ADN right now and then pursue the UNCW RN-BSN after you graduate because you can do the RN-BSN program online at your own pace while you are working, plus you may get some monetary assistance from your employer. There is really no difference between ADN students and RIBN students, it is just the track you choose to get you where you want to go. I will say that Erin Luce the RIBN coordinator is fantastic and does an amazing job of working with her students, keeping them up to date with their individual program needs. I don't know if RIBN is or is NOT a good fit for you but I think a longer conversation would be needed in order for you to make the best informed decision for your specific needs. I did NOT get accepted into ADN when I applied but did get accepted into RIBN which for me was a good thing because I still had a number of Pre-reqs to complete and if I had been accepted into ADN while trying to do Microbiology and A&P 1 and 2 then I may have done poorly in Nursing classes which I hear take a large amount of time for study and preparation. I hope this helps you, even though I didn't directly answer the question. I think you know that RIBN selection is based soley on your PSB test score (the complete score). Good luck to you and hopefully we will meet in class someday. Shoot me another thread if you want to talk more. Ryan
