  1. Hi SunKissed That is great and congrats on getting into the ADN program. As for you question, there is no simple answer. RIBN is a 4 year program and you would not start your nursing classes until 2015. You also have to meet UNCW requirements for a bachelors degree, which means more classes and a foreign language. If you have already completed a large number of pre-reqs for the ADN then it may be better to do ADN right now and then pursue the UNCW RN-BSN after you graduate because you can do the RN-BSN program online at your own pace while you are working, plus you may get some monetary assistance from your employer. There is really no difference between ADN students and RIBN students, it is just the track you choose to get you where you want to go. I will say that Erin Luce the RIBN coordinator is fantastic and does an amazing job of working with her students, keeping them up to date with their individual program needs. I don't know if RIBN is or is NOT a good fit for you but I think a longer conversation would be needed in order for you to make the best informed decision for your specific needs. I did NOT get accepted into ADN when I applied but did get accepted into RIBN which for me was a good thing because I still had a number of Pre-reqs to complete and if I had been accepted into ADN while trying to do Microbiology and A&P 1 and 2 then I may have done poorly in Nursing classes which I hear take a large amount of time for study and preparation. I hope this helps you, even though I didn't directly answer the question. I think you know that RIBN selection is based soley on your PSB test score (the complete score). Good luck to you and hopefully we will meet in class someday. Shoot me another thread if you want to talk more. Ryan
  2. Hey Johnny. If you go back and look at past years you may get a better idea what point totals got in and which ones didn't. You may also want to look at the RIBN program if you don't have that many pre-reqs done. It can be quite challenging to be in Nursing classes and still trying to get the remaining pre-reqs completed especially if they are the science related pre-reqs. I believe last year the number was around 350 for the lowest score that actually got accepted and then it went down to about 335 for the last alternate. I don't know how many alternates were eventually accepted but I have heard that many of the alternates do end up getting in for various reasons the original accepted group goes to a different school, or any number of reasons they decide not to attend CFCC. Good luck to you. Ryan
  3. Lossea I am glad you spoke with Erin she is great to talk to about the program. Everyone is in different situations, many of the students in my cohort have done some pre-reqs all at different levels. We will not start any Nursing classes till 2014. Maybe you will be in that class with us. I know of some of the others who are applying for the ADN in 2014. As you have probably read in this post, many of the students who got in to ADN 2013 had combined PSB and pre-reqs scores over 350. If you do apply make sure you prepare for the PSB before going to take it so you get the best score. It makes a huge difference in whether or not you get in. They have some classes outside of CFCC and you can go to the Learning Lab at Cfcc for help with the test. I am taking A&P 1 and microbiology along with archaeology online at UNCW. Good luck to you in your college and career path.
  4. Lossea The RIBN program is just a different track then going to UNCW for nursing or CFCC ADN. It actually is a combination of the two. You are required to take 1 online per year and I would say it would have to be fall class. If you have more questions you can talk Erin Luce at Cfcc. Generally you would take all your pre-req at Cfcc and then all your ADN classes at Cfcc. After your 3rd year you would take NCLEX and could start working as RN.The last year you would take all online nursing classes through UNCW and graduate with a BSN. I will be happy to answer any other questions that you may have. Let me know. Ryan
  5. hey everyone. I got into the RIBN program for 2013. I'm so excited to start my new career path in Nursing. Good luck to all of you who will be starting the ADN program this year, maybe we will meet next year when I start Nursing classes.
  6. KAO. I hope you get into the RIBN program, I am sure you will do great in the program once you get there. I did not have many of the pre-reqs for admission into CFCC's ADN program so my point total did not allow me acceptance into that program for this fall. I received my letter for the point count assessment today and it is scheduled for Thursday, April 18th, anytime between 9a-5p. I hope it does not take a long time to get the results after the point count.I am taking some classes this summer, what are you taking?
  7. KAO. That's interesting what you said about the RIBN program. I was speaking with the RIBN coordinator last week and she mentioned that the point count is in mid-April and we would know the final result by the beginning of May. I guess I don't have the correct info on the program. I know a person that was taken last year and will start their nursing classes this fall. I was told that his cohort was the first one taken in the RIBN program at CFCC. Do you think you have a good chance in getting accepted into the program this year? I am excitedly waiting to hear if I will be accepted in the program. I am taking BIO 111 and pre-calc over the summer. Are you taking any summer classes?
  8. Hey DT. Are you still applying to the RIBN program at Cfcc? I applied for this fall and waiting to here if I got in or not. They only take the total on your PSB exam. They dont look at pre-req or GPA. Well you need a minimum of 2.5 I believe. Well if you see this send me a message.
  9. CFCC13. What does that mean when it is unlocked?
  10. KAO good luck for the upcoming point count on getting into the RIBN program. We should hear something within the next week. If you are looking for info on the RIBN program there is not much to go on since last year was the first year it started so this coming fall would be when they would start taking Nursing classes. That is why there are only 70 spots this coming fall for the ADN program. If you want info on the ADN program there are some posts from previous years that could provide some insight on what to start studying now. I am sure there may be others who know of current nursing students in the program.
  11. KitKat I'm confused I thought you are on the alternate list? Are you not going to pursue the option that you may still get in this year? Do you know what # alternate you are? That is very interesting that they are going to take 180 students next year. I wonder where are they going to put all the new classes for that many students? It will be interesting to see what happens. I have applied to get into to the RIBN program for this year so I will not know until later this month. Fingers crossed!
  12. KitKat I agree with mmtnurse. Follow this all the way to the end since this is your dream don't let it go so easily. Yes you may be an alternate but there are many reasons that people pursue other interest and give up their spot. You may have to wait a little longer but stick with it.
  13. Congratulations to all of you that got in for Fall 2013. You have all earned your spot by working hard and getting the grades needed. Jessie309 I think you may be one the last alternates because I had 331.5 and did not get in so with your 334 I can only imagine you would be one of the last alternates.
  14. Wow! Really. We are not going to find out until April 2nd or 3rd if they have not finished point count reviews yet! That is so frustrating, having to wait longer. Good luck to all of you!
  15. I had my point total and ended up with 331.5. I know someone else who had just over 300. You also have to remember that you only have to get 30% on the Psb to get called in for point totals. That could be a large number of applicants who just meet the minimum standard. Good luck to all of and I imagine it will take a couple of weeks to get acceptance letters sent out. We have all done the best we can and now it just comes down to the numbers.
