Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

I am interviewing for the VERY LAST SPOT on June 24th!! Finger crossed :) If I get in classes will actually start July 5th.

Good luck, Lemonbug!

I have been a member here at AllNurses for years, and I am finally starting nursing school this Fall. We have great resources here and lots of wonderful people to talk to. Let's go get 'em nursing students!

Congrats to all of us!!!

Our school takes 80 students a year and 200 applied. Our school also sends out two rounds of letters. The first round was in March and I wasn't part of that batch because I was taking Chem and that needs to be complete before entering NS. They will be looking at the second round of applicants next week and letters will start coming out the last week of May or first week of June. So I don't have too much longer to wait!!

This thread has helped me through the good and the bad. With Orientation tomorrow I cannot sleep because I am so excited (even if I just worked 8 hours!). A question is lingering in my head and I hope someone can answer it before I go crazy...

My school has a two-week long "pre-nursing" dates. What are these for?

I know in less then 12 hours I will know the answer.:uhoh3: But I am allowed one stupid question on this thread right:D

Congrats you guys!

Well I guess you would like to hear about Orientation!

There were like 80 people in the room but they said that there were only about 55-60 slots to be filled. But I am not worried. We were welcomed and told some of the policies. Then we take about different finacial aid opportunties. We talked about the "pre-nursing" dates which is like orientation but I guess it weeds out the weak students or the one's who may drop due to lack committment. Pre-nursing will include the following:

Orientation, Math, Library Orientation, Research Assignment, Study Skills, Nursing Skills, Stress Management, Ordering Uniforms, Registering for classes, Communication & Documentation and anything they deem fit to get us ahead on the first day.

Talked about Health Forms, CPR certification, TB skin tests, drug screenings and background checks. Tired now. But very excited. Going to get a dosage calculations book and a basic math book to brush up on math. Thanks for listening.

Acceptance letter arrived today!! :)

Acceptance letter arrived today!! :)

CONGRATS! CONGRATS! :yeah:

I was at HACC and applied to LGCNHS after they had already chosen the applicants for Fall 2011, so I didnt really think I would get in, they are sifficult to get into even if I would have applied on time (my friend who transferred last semester finally convinced me to apply after bugging me for a year about it). I was surprised when I very quickly recieved my acceptance letter. I will be starting clincals now almost a year earlier than I would have at HACC so Im really excited! I have been getting all the stuff in order, background checks, uniforms ordered, and such, and now that it is sinking in I am getting a little nervous. :uhoh21: But I am really really really happy that after 4 yrs of part time pre-reqs I finally get to start the good stuff. YAAAYYY!! Congrats to all that got accepted!

Congrats to all that got accepted! Woo hoo!
