I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.
Wow, alot of people have already been accepted...my school is really slow. They haven't begun accepting applications yet. I have all of my pre-reqs done. I got all A's in the classes they look at; 3.8 GPA (hopefully 4.0 in May)still haven't taken the TEAS V. I have to take it at another school because my school doesn't offer it. My school is so unorganized! Everyone got the summer schedule books the other day, and there was a HPS103 course in there that we HAVE to take before Nursing school. We had no warning. You have to be accepted into this class just like in nursing school. Your grade in this class goes towards your points as well. But nobody know what it is, how to apply, or anything. They haven't posted any info on it, and nobody can get ahold of the instructors! I went to the nursing office today, and there was nobody there all day. They also make you apply to nursing school, THEN take the TEAS V and they kick you right back out if it's not good enough. They are notorious about waiting until a week before class starts to tell you that you've been accepted. It's ridiculous IMO. Kudos to those going through this aggravation and to those who have been accepted!!!
I got my letter yesterday! I got in to my program for Fall 2011! I am so psyched to get started.
Congrats and Good Luck to everyone!
@BearsMommy - that sounds frustrating. I am sorry you have to go through all of that. That sounds really confusing. Luckily, my school seems very organized so far. We go to an informational meeting next month to prepare us for what comes next, which is CPR, Liability Insurance, physical exams, etc. Plus probably buying a lot of nursing stuff. We will also schedule for the fall.
Seems so unreal that this is all happening. I am one of the lucky ones. I finally got up enough courage to go back to school in January. It has been a whirlwind ever since! I called the school on January 3 and they told me the app deadline was January 5th. I got lucky and tested out of the developmental courses and was able to get my transcripts and everything in two days time. Then I registered for spring classes and away I went! Only had a month to study for the NLN exam and somehow scored a 152...still impressed with that. And now to get a letter. I feel so lucky to have this opportunity!
I think I have received some good news today.
I talked with my Anatomy and Physiology instructor today about my transcript. He works closely with the instructors in the Nursing Department so knows what they are looking for in future nursing students. Well anyway, he said with my grades, my TEAS scores, and the number of classes I have already taken, there is no reason I would not get into the program this year! I am super excited and super nervous because if my instructor is wrong then we are going to fight. If my instructor is right then I am going to be super duppa excited.
Ready (hopefully) for my acceptance letter and orientation!
