ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

Don't feel bad. I got an 80% and the part I messed up on was Science. My other scores were high. But for my school you have to get at least a 65. Hopefully, I will be ok. Crossing my fingers for State Board Testing in a couple of weeks. Really nervous. You can basicly say that if I don't get my CNA, my dreams for nursing school are dead (at least for the RN program)

Im sure you will do fine. When I took my CNA test it was common sense questions and multiple choice. No one in our class failed.

It's not the written exam I am talking about. That should be a piece of cake. I am nervous about the skills part. I get so nervous and start forgetting stuff that I know. In class when we did mock testing, I messed up so bad. But my teacher is doing some more mocking testing up until the exam date. Hopefully by doing those, I will build up my nerves and actually pass

I dont even remember our skills exam..granted that was when I was 18 so a long time ago..I think what they did was just watched us on the floor during our clinicals and then all we had was our written exam.

We will keep our fingers crossed for you 35!!

I THINK ...well im about 80% sure that Im going to go for the RN program and apply for this fall...instead of going to the LPN school or waiting until spring 2012...im pretty sure i'll maintain the A i have in AP right now which will give me a little above a 3.0 gpa.

which means I have to take math for meds and microbiology next semester!! both are "short classes" start in march and finish in may.

kind of nervous about taking any class with micro..but math for meds is only a 1 credit class and only 1 hour a week.

I wish my school offered a math for meds class. I need any and all help that I can get in that area. I got a B in college algebra but I am not confident with my math skills at all.

I took math for meds about 6yrs ago and it was a really good class...gives you a good starting point at least. my school requires that you take it the semester before you enter the program..and since the last time i took it was so long ago I'm having to repeat. Im not the greatest with math either!

I may have to look around and see if any of the other community colleges close by offers it.

I will my school offered Med Math. I need all the math I can get. I just cannot stand math with a passion :( But we have to wait until nursing school to get that kind of instruction.

On another note, I was talking to someone in my class today and was saying that I was worried about getting in the nursing program and they asked me how many points do I have. I told them and they were like "I wish I had that many points" I understand that that is oone person's situation but it may me feel better about getting in. I feel bad that I am taking something good from someone's "miss fortune" if you can say that. I feel now that I have to really roll with the punches. I have to take what life gives me and move on. If this is the right path, it will happen but if not there are many ways to skin a cat :)

im with ya...math is my weak subject..but i actually did really well in math for meds so that made me happy.

im stressing about my points! by the end of next semester I SHOULD have a 3.6 gpa which will give me a total point count of 9 out of 12 possible IF i score "advanced" on the TEAS V.

have you taken the TEAS yet? I have taken the teas in the past but now they want TEAS V...and Ive heard its a lot harder from a couple of students..so im buying study guides which i've never done before.

I think I will be stressing until my school gives me an acceptance or denial letter. I have taken the TEAS IV which is what my school requires. I made an 80%. The science is what got me. I went into it without studying as hard as I needed to. I used an old GED book that my ex-boyfriend had laying around. It helped me alot because I refused to pay $46 for a study guide from ATI testing. I am not too sure what my GPA will be but as of right now, I have 3 A's and a B but that will go up with some extra care.

Math was not my strong area either, although I kick butt in fractions. I've been slowly working through a drug calculation book. Math for nurses pocket guide by mary jo boyer. My school recently dropped the summer drug calc course prior to starting the program so I'm teaching myself a little at a time so I'm not cramming for that med test the first week of school.
