ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

Hey everyone, I am going to join in here as a fall hopeful! My school has a points based system too. However our points are based on our GPA, ACT scores and pre-req's that have been taken.

I really wished that the school I am applying to would give us a chance to make a more personal introduction, maybe a cover letter or an interview. Even though that is not part of the application process I do feel like I might include a cover letter anyways. What do you all think?

I second that motion! Cover letter or a personal statement would be great because then they can see who is really passionate or use is just "passing time". I know my school "may" do interviews. I am prepared for anything right now. I am really eager to call myself a Nursing Student. Taking A&P I next semester. I think it will be ok but the only thing that I am scared about is if I get into Nursing School, during the summer I will be taking Microbiology and A&P I....ugh! Just to get them out the way so I can totally focus on nursing classes

Taking those classes before Nursing will probably be a good choice. I am taking Micro right now 95% of my class is Nursing students and they are struggling

I agree that you should get everything out of the way so that your sole focus can be on your nursing classes. I know that others have taken nursing classes with the pre req's but I just think that it would be a little overwelming. If you wind up taking A&P 1 and Micro during the summer it will be hard, but oh so worth it when your done. You will be proud of your accomplishment!

I really am silly. Why would I take A&P I in the spring and summer? I meant to say A&P II and Microbiology in the summer. Nevertheless I know that it will be worth it. Just keeping my figures crossed and hope/pray that my acceptance letter will be coming to me around May 2011 :-)

I am too a 2011 Fall hopefull (i hope!!) Finishing up my last 2 pre-reqs and taking the Teas in Dec. At my school once all pre-reqs are completed and you pass the Teas you get a date of completion. The waitlist can be as long as 2 years but I'm hoping not. Gpa is 2.7 I have a 3.0 right now and currently getting B's in my chem and eng II class. Next spring I am taking micro (which isnt considered a pre-req) and some classes towards my BSN. I figured I might as well work towards that if I'm gonna be on any waitlist.

Good luck everyone!

2011 Hopeful here. I've taken all the pre-requisites and co-requisites except for A&P II. Our school has a ranking system based on required credits taken (sciences, Math, and English), multiplied by actual grade received. I applied last week, and I felt nervous/excited. Won't get an answer for close to 9 months, so now I can only wait. It feels like it's been a long haul. Hope we all get our acceptance letters!!!

Applied for Fall 2011. I'm on my last two prereqs right now. Will find out in March if I got in.

Good luck everyone!

Hi!

Im kind of all over the place..so many factors to consider.

Right now..im accepted into a private LPN program for fall 2011 but Im also weighing my options of going to a RN program that is closer to home.

It all depends on my AP grade..which HAS TO BE AN A!!! I got a C in Chem...and A's and B's in my other pre req's...currently the RN program will let us submit our chem grade in place of our micro as a pre rec ..it allows us to apply and then take micro over the summer if we cant take micro during the spring ...but if i dont get an A in AP..my GPA wont come out to 3.0 which means I'll have to wait until after I take micro to apply. If i dont get into the fall 2011 class...then i have to take more pre recs..because they are doing an overhaul on their nursing program..and anyone after fall 2011 has to go by the new requirements.

When I spoke with the director he said as long as I could keep my A in AP then I shouldnt have a problem getting into the program..its just keeping my A...i have 3 weeks left in AP..so we'll see what happens.

If I get my A in AP and go to the RN instead of LPN then I'll need to take math for meds during the spring and micro during the summer. I would apply in April when I take the TEAS V and find out by June if I got in.

Glad to see that I am not the only one stressed out about waiting.

CCC12, I am in the same boat you are in. I am applying to both the LPN and RN programs at my community college. I feel so stressed about not having enough points to get into the RN program, I want to "cover my tracks" and apply to the LPN program too. If I get into either one I will be happy because that will mean a better future for me and my daughter. I want her to look up to. I have made so many bad decisions in my life I just want to make myself and her proud. That's my goal. Everyday I look into her big brown eyes gives me hope and motivation that I can do it.

Everyone, keep striving! Soon we will be posting about our acceptance letters and I wish all of you the best

Finishing Micro, A&P I,II out of the way with A's. All other coursework is fully completed other than the actual nursing courses. My application is in and now the waiting game begins. I am sure I will finish with a decent grade in Micro. The program only takes under 50 students and is based soley on prereqs and a point system. No entrance exams or interviews. So, waiting it out till notification in April. In the same boat with everyone else :)
