I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

BTW Some Borders bookstores are closing? I went to one last night 20-40% off I got a few nursing school books.

Yep. Borders filed for restructuring bankruptcy so they're closing some of their underperforming stores.

But yes. The mailman cringes now when he comes down my block. The deadline was Feb 1st, and it's been 3 weeks now! I want my letter! lol

I tried to get to the liquidating Borders yesterday near my house and got caught in a HUGE gridlock of cars, couldn't even get parking. I wanted Anatomy Flashcards. I just gave up and went to another one that wasn't closing today and bought them with a coupon. The store was a mess even though it wasn't one of the closing ones, hardly anybody staffed and really disorganized.

I'll be studying skeletal flashcards for the rest of today, though =)

Only 8 more days of February!!!! Still waiting for March 15th to come and go =)

Hello Everyone,

I am studying for the TEAS, and plan to pick a test date, pay for it, and take it on my schedule.

So far I have applied to one College, but will apply to the second as soon as I can, it seems like each CC has at least one class that is "school specific" and isn't required at other schools. Also both of the programs I am appllying to

want to arrange for their applicants to take the TEAS. I am so antsy that I think if I do it on my own, it will get one more thing out of the way, one more thing to X off the TO Do list. If I need to re take it for a higher score, then I will have time to do that.

For all the single Moms out there, keep up the good, no great work, you can all do anything you set out to do..

I was a single Mom and while it was tough at times, in some ways it was easier - I had me to depend on, and all choices were mine. If and when you get overwhelmed, please e-mail me, and I will be your cheering squad. You are

making not only your own life better, but teaching your kids that with effort nothing is impossible.

You know...I did that with the HESI. Ended up taking it last October and scoring an 85% composite...and they won't take my score! They want me to retake it on their time. Kind of vexed about that, but at least I know I will do reasonably well...especially since my lowest score was on A&P and I've taken a whole second semester of it. Can only improve right?

Hello Jack,

That must have hurt.

When I filled out the apps, both had spaces for a previously taken TEAS score, from what I understand there is a $ 20.00 fee for the school to get previous results.

On of my friends who is a semester ahead (so he is just began the first semester) was telling me he wished that he had done it on his own time. Kinda seems like it's what the different schools want.

An 85% seems like a pretty good number. Is it curved with all others who take it at the same time? I do believe it and the TEAS are basically the same - just school preference.

If there is a breakdown of scoring here is your chance to raise it, not that there is much room for improvement!

Good Luck, when do you hear about your app?

Well I took it for a different program, which I didn't get into, but yeah, it was rather frustrating. I don't think it was curved, as I took it in their testing center as a walk in, so I'm almost sure no one else was taking it at the time. The deadline for applying was Feb 1st, but I had everything in last november. They say I should hear something 2-3 weeks later, so I'm hoping any day now.

Hey everyone the time is getting closer!! I just found out that one of the schools I applied to has moved up their acceptance letter mailing date and the other one has also moved their date up some!! WOW I am going to find out earlier than previously thought. Now I am getting nervous.

When will you know for sure? I am going to email my advisor on Monday if I don't hear anything today. Good luck!

Well, now I have dilemma. I have been accepted as a transfer into a BNS program starting this fall. Whew, at least the hard work has paid off and I know no matter what I will be in a program this fall. I am an older student (40's) changing careers. I am hoping to hear in April that I have also been accepted to the ADN program I have applied for. May be jumping the gun but if I get into both I am not sure what to do. I work at a hospital and at this point the hospital system is only hiring BSN's as new nurses. BSN students get preference in SNAP positions and so on. ADN would have me out working earlier but would still take longer to get the BSN. So, three years to complete the BSN or two years to complete ADN get out and hopefully get a job, work a year and do a ADN to BSN program? In our area most all the ADN to BSN programs start in June and run 12 months. The deadline for application would have past by the time I graduate from the ADN program so would have to wait a year to enter the ADN to BSN program. Of course I may not get into the ADN program and my choice is made for me. If it was up to you, what would you do?

Good luck everyone! The wait is horrible!

I would go for the BSN sounds like a smarter move and you will be able to get a job over someone with an ADN. Best of luck in your decision.

I am so ready for this wait to be over! About 2 months to go. I have super stressed but it is all working out. I have to keep myself busy (which is not hard considering I have a 2 year old, a household to maintain, and plenty of studying and homework) I am ready for us to start posting great news. Only a couple of months to go. Cannot Wait!

So Happy I got accepted into my program today!!!! I am soooo happy! Thanks for everyone's well wishes! I will start this September:) Good luck everyone I hope you all get into your programs as well:)
