Waitlisted? Rejected? NEVER Give Up!
Wow! Thank you for those inspiring words of encouragement! I recently was accepted into my program this fall. I believe what helped me was that I was always in front of her asking questions, and meeting with her and proving to her how persistant I am. I know the waiting is horrible. I waited for almost a year a half. Don't give up! I wish everyone the best of luck!

ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!
I would go for the BSN sounds like a smarter move and you will be able to get a job over someone with an ADN. Best of luck in your decision.

ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!
Thank you! I did email her that exact question as to when they had to reply by and she said she has not figured that out yet but that the letters will go out sometime this week. I am thinking she will give them 2 weeks. She did mention to me over the fall that there were several people that she could not locate on her list. I would not wish anything bad on anyone either, but I do hope someone is not able to accept their spot...so I can get in. I realize though there is a chance that I may not get in so I am trying to not be too hopeful but the suspense is killing me! They allow 35 students in once a year fall term.

ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!
I just emailed my advisor yesterday and she told me that she has 8 letters to mail out and then I will be closer on the list and basically if she does not receive all of those letters back that I should plan on attending this fall!!! Woo hoo...I hope no one responds, they were already emailed their acceptance but they did not reply back so that is why they will be mailed certified to them. I am so nervous and praying I get in for this fall.

What was your first day of CNA class like?
We did an introduction of each other and went over the first few chapters in our book and only did procedures on certain days of the week, it was a 3 week class. The material is very common sense but my quizzes still there me off with a few questions, but all in all it was a very easy and actually fun class. Enjoy it!

how much do you make?
Hi, thanks so much for your insight:) I have seen a video of the home and while I was there today, I did not actually see any of the residents but did hear them when a door behind me was opened. They house 48 children and young adults, and also like your facility they will be attending school during the day or workshop. I had a young lady that I cared for in my clinicals that was tube fed and she had mental and physical disabillties and I believe she was 18, but she could understand perfectly what I was saying and she would nod her head yes or no or laugh with me or sometimes at me, as I was joking with her, she was such a sweetheart and I really believe I would love working with these kids. I hope I get a call back on my application. There were 3 other people there as well filling out applications as well, but I know they have other positions open as well. And I wondered how they would shower or bathe, thanks for that explanation. I will send you a message if I get an interview and hopefully get hired on thanks again for describing your day for me, it sounds like a position I would also find very rewarding:)

STNA to HUC salary increase?
Hi I am also attending Cincinnati State, but majoring in Occupational Therapy Assistant and I am also on the wait list. I just wanted to let you know that they are not offering the restorative aide program. I have already contacted the program chair about it and she said there is just not enough interest. So I am volunteering in a skilled nursing facility in the rehab area and they will be expanding in a year and need another rehab tech. If I were you I would do the PCA training since it will be more in line with nursing and also it is only 1 week long. I had applied a long time ago for a health unit coordinator position at Jewish in Kenwood and did not have any experience other than customer service and I was going to go interview but could not do the hours listed since I did not have day care at the time. So I think it may be a waste of your time and money for the health unit coordinator classes when you could just apply and probably be hired on. But, if I were you I would go for the PCA. Best of luck to you!

Rehab Aide?
Hi, I would also suggest contacting some rehab companies like genesis for instance. I had a recent interview for a restorative aide job, but was not selected. Or you could also call around to Skilled nursing facilities and ask to speak to the therapy area and see if they have a need? Especially since you already have experience as a CNA that is a real plus. I am currently volunteering at a SNF in the therapy area and I really love it so far. I am hoping when they expand the gym in a year they will hire me on. I basically transport the pateints to and from therapy and today I did get to do a few exercises with a few residents:-) Best of luck to you!

Volunteering
Hi I am volunteering in the rehab area at a LTC in my area and I love it! My job is to clean the equipment and transport the residents to and from therapy. I am also an STNA and I am going to find out how much the STNA's are paid at the facility I am volunteering at and also they are going to be expanding their rehab unit to one big gym instead of 2 within the next year and will need another rehab tech so that is also while I am there. And I am majoring in Occupational Therapy so it is great to see the therapies in action also and interact with the residents and therapist. Best of luck to you and I think it will really look good for you if you are planning on working there as a CNA.
