Just wondering who's starting the awesome journey with me? I went to orientation and now its starting to feel real!!
I know I'm late to hop the bandwagon, but Jack Dawson hit it rich that way onto the Titanic. I just hope my (our) journey doesn't end the way his did!
I'm at NCC in Eastern North Carolina.
I'm almost done with CNA 1 and taking CNA 2 this fall along with nursing.
I'm SO excited. I've been creeping on this site for over a week now, and literally giggled out loud to see this particular thread. I feel like a part of a group beginning the adventurous, although sometimes timultuous, trek up Mount Everest.... We will have to grow close and lean on each other for support to make it through to the degrees we have wanted for so long.
I hope we all enjoy nursing as much as we can!

Welcome and congrats to all the new people who joined this group!!
Well I got my uniforms and shoes ordered, completed by CPR class and background check, and purchased my Liability Insurance. I turned all my paperwork into my school's nursing dept and was told to wait to receive an email about the nursing success institute that will take place a week before classes start. I was told to go ahead and purchase my textbooks so this coming week I will look into that. I'm using financial aid so I have to see how that is going to work.
I'm so excited. I've gotten all my supplies (clipboard with calculator, sticky notes, pens, highlighters, 3-ring notebook w lots of folders, pen light, stethoscope, bp cuff, shoes, socks, etc) and the time is creeping by, filled with nerves and questions nobody can answer but me once I get in the class.
I've got my planner filled with when I'm in classes and when I'm going to study, now I'm just waiting for the okay to get my books so I can start studying early.
Orientation is July 19th, not too far away, and I hope many things will get answered then. Like: what color scrubs, what books, what classrooms, and any supplies I may have forgotten. I hope we get to meet our instructors that day too.
Anybody else so excited to embark on the adventure?

It is a great feeling! It took almost two years of pre-reqs to get here. I took so many classes that I was able to get my associate's degree in health sciences this past April. My orientation isn't until Sept. 12th, so I have a while until I find out all of the specifics. I am ready for the next chapter to begin!
I just finished up my CNA, and the next day I got the phone call that I got in the nursing school I wanted! The school took 8 weeks to start calling people...it was torture! My nursing orientation is July 19th, and school starts August 18th...and I am sooo excited!! I'm going to actually spend some good money on a haircut (and not a $8 dollar cut either lol). I'm hoping to get a hospital job with my CNA to help pay for school, because we need it bad; the fees alone are wiping us out.Maybe I'm a nerd, but I'm starting a college scrapbook. I'm going to put my certificates, schedules, and things like that in it, and my uniform patch when I'm through. I'm going to take alot of pics too. I didn't get to go to my own graduation b/c of personal stuff, so this will be my first graduation!
Congrats everybody, and good luck! Enjoy these last few weeks of sanity...
Love the nursing school scrapbook idea:redbeathe I wish my daughter would do that. It's tough enough to even get a picture of her in her scrubs! She lives in a huge house with 6 other nursing students and I'd love to get a group picture.
Keep that scrapbook, you'll treasure it always!
