Just wondering who's starting the awesome journey with me? I went to orientation and now its starting to feel real!!
Hi guys. I am starting in the Fall too!! I am at a community college in Massachusetts. My orientation is the end of august. I cant wait... My class info is already up on Blackboard. I know my books are $600 so i have to wait for financial aid to come through with a book voucher bc i cant afford all that. I am working as a pca in the pacu at Mass General which is a great opportunity. I wish everyone goodluck with their upcoming nursing classes... I cant wait to start and get reading and get going with clinicals.
How many of you guys are either cna's or pca's working in healthcare right now?
Nice to meet all of you:redbeathe
So excited right now. I received my uniforms in the mail 2 days ago. You know I had to play super model . One month until the first day of classes. Still haven't gotten my books. A girl at work went to the same school and she is going to let my have all her books. (I have to give her something, it wouldn't be right) Everything is going right in my life. WIA program is going to pay for schooling and hopefully I get some more scholarships. (Momma needs to survive during school because working every other Saturday and Sunday is not going to cut it)
I start my ADN program this fall too!! If all goes well, I will be part of the nursing class of 2013!! I purchased books, scrubs, stethoscope, rubber watch, lab coat, school patch, name tag, scissors, all shots, titers, and physical completed. The only thing I have left to buy is velcro tape to attach my school patch to my scrubs and lab coat. It does not feel real yet. I have times where I am extremely nervous, nervous I will be one of those who does not make it.
I'm going to start my orientation in mid-august! I'm really excited and a bit anxious to see what is to come . I think there are about 85 of us in the weekday nursing program. I already have my shoes (danskos) and almost all of my books! I just can't wait to get my littmann stethoscope (in light blue) and blood pressure cuff! I'm happy to find a blog that I can relate to!
Unfortunately I will be leaving this group because I will not be attending the ADN program at this time. An opportunity to attend a BSN program came my way and I decided to go that route so instead of graduating in 2013 I will be graduating in 2014. I want to wish all of you well and good luck in your studies. You guys have truly been an inspiration. Take care future nursing graduates!!
Well I went to orientation tonight. It wasn't as informative as I was hoping, but they were pleasant to interact with (the staff). Our uniforms are going to be royal blue pants and a white top.
We had to order those by this Friday and seeing that there was a vendor outside the room we were in, everybody stood in line to try on sizes of lab coats, tops, and bottoms. I already knew my sizes from trying them on at a local scrub store (GO ME!)
The attendance policy goes like this: If you are late to clincials you need not come because you will be sent home and counted absence. If you are late to class/lab you have to wait one hour until the first break to enter class. If you have to leave clinical early, then don't come that day because leaving early is not an option. sigh
I'm still excited as everything draws closer. This Friday is my first clinical day for my CNA 1 class. I'll be on my feet from 8am-2:30 pm. Not looking forward to that, but might as well start getting used to it.
Next week I have to get my 2nd TB Skin Test, 2nd Hep B shot, pay for my classes, and order my books.
Then Aug. 12th is last day of CNA class. August 15th starts nursing school. Aug. 18th in CNA graduation. Sept 3rd starts nursing clinicals and Sept 10th is CNA 1 NACES exam. Oh and my mom and I are moving in November!
WOW --- I had to get all that written down so I won't go crazy! lol
How are all of you doing?
