ADN class of 2013

Published

Just wondering who's starting the awesome journey with me? I went to orientation and now its starting to feel real!!

I just made a bunch of frozen meals. I'm getting my fall clothes out because it gets cold in early October and that will be in here in no time. I haven't been able to sleep this week, so I am spending that time finishing my summer "to do" list.

Pupmom - Thank You. I am just having a little transfer shock. I left the school with the largest nursing program to attend a night program at the smallest program. I had no idea how organized my old school was until I left. I actually miss it, all my school friends, and coworkers attend my that school. I feel lost and don't know anyone. I'm sure by clinicals all will be fine.

I feel a little like that; I graduated from another school in the same city in May with a different degree and just decided to go to school for nursing; so far, this program and nursing school in general is very different than my previous college experience... I'm hoping I can make friends easily!

So... classes start Wednesday, so last week I started ordering textbooks online (so much cheaper!). I've gotten several of them in the mail so far, and today I got two more. I got Clinical Nursing Skills & Techniques and... Pharmacology for Nurses. I ordered Nursing Care Planning Guides. :( I'm not even taking Pharmacology for another year, and that's not even the textbook my school uses. I contacted the seller on Amazon.com to let them know, but I know it's probably going to be a week or so into school before I get the right book. :( Oh well, stuff happens!

Class start tomorrow :D

Not really freaking out like I thought I would (I'm the type to overreact)

I think this is the calm before the storm though, I hope I get some sleep

I'm like a child when something exciting is about to happen, unable to sleep and bouncing off the walls :jester:

Good luck everyone!

Hey Peers! I am happy to have found this thread. I am so stoked to start nursing school this fall! I still have to move to the town my school is in and I haven't found a house yet. I have three of the text and have begun using the accompanying CD for one of them and plan to read some of the first unit before class starts in a month. However I am freaking out about moving, I mean what if no one will rent to me in this small town! I have so-so credit because I was evicted five years ago and I have a large dog. I am halfway tempted to just live in my van while I start school if I haven't found a new place since the commute would be over two hours! Okay thanks for reading my rant/panic. I can't wait for school to start and everything to fall into place.

Good luck on your apt search!

I have 2 weeks till classes start! I have my books from last semester (I am a re=entry student) But one of the books changed, of course! I have to wait till payday to get it, but that's ok! I am so excited to start again! Good luck all!

We got our syllabus and master schedule today. 5 Exams and a Final. The final book list was completed, there was one more book to buy. Our Dosage Calculations test is October 26. We start clinicals week five, but then have some more lab days, then back to clinicals.

I am not surprised, but just wish we had more notice of this schedule. There are a lot of extra classes and meeting times the first two weeks. My boss is great, but that would have been easier to arrange a few weeks ago. Our Lab/clinicals are 30 minutes longer than the original schedule. Again my boss is working with me so a few minutes late isn't a big deal. At least we have the schedule for the entire semester.

I am so excited I can hardly sleep, we get our uniforms this week and student nurse association tee-shirts? Looks like I have been pre-reading exactly what I need to, and they suggested an additional book I bought and reviewed this summer. I feel as prepared as possible. We have next week off, I am taking a short trip with my daughter - no books allowed, then I start nursing school and she starts her senior year of high school, with a much tougher schedule than mine.

To everyone that started already or is starting this week. Best of luck!!!! and let us know how it went.

I start this Monday! So excited! :) I've been waiting for two years, so it's awesome to finally get going.

My bookstore purchases were somewhere around $1k I'd imagine. I might have to pick up some odds and ends, there was something in our syllabus about a thing (will have to reread, lol) that we needed to take with us to clinical, and unless that came in our nursing tote, well, I'll be returning to buy it.

i will be starting on the 22nd! i can't wait to start this journey! i know it's going to be tough, but i'm ready for it! good luck to everyone!!!:yeah:

:ancong!: ctasy! i know how excited you must be because so am i! i just bought a few of my first actual nursing books and i'm already starting to read them! :D

i even got the books that were on the optional reading list. i'm such a dork! :lol2:

good luck to you all in this fall semester!

19 days and counting before my first day! just got my clinical schedule and i'm pretty happy about it...They're holding a meet and greet for all the nursing students next saturday and were getting a 10% off card for our nursing books! which saves me nearly 70$!!! so YAY!!!

Today was my first day! It was really just a get to know your prof, get to know your fellow students/study skills for success day. Tomorrow is an orientation and we will find out where our clinical site is! I'm really hoping to get the hospital 3 miles from my house, not one that is 45 min. away!!!

I think I'm more nervous for tomorrow than I was for today, haha!!!

I start classes at OU Southern September 6th. We have had 1 orientation and we have another September 1st. I am so excited and scared at the same time. LOL. Good luck to us all!

Crossing my fingers for you! The closest one to my house is about 13 miles and then one that's 45 miles and then another at 70. I saw somewhere in my ppwrk that there's a chance I may do a clinical or two in Mexico. We're close to the border, but I didn't realize we could do that....And I've already started to ramble off topic, so I'll stop for now!
