Just wondering who's starting the awesome journey with me? I went to orientation and now its starting to feel real!!

Ok. I went through the pre-nursing weeks at my school. During these weeks we were given assignments that we will be responsible for the first week of class. It's pretty awesome to get a leg up during the summer and sort of getting our feet wet as we wait. Since I do not have books yet (saving now), the school showed us how to register for the books we will be using. Since I have not purchased or read the books, the website has the minimum when it comes to the material. I wanted to know will it be in vein if I started looking at the key terms and concepts for the chapters we are responsible for? I am sort of an overacheiver and I want to do everything in my power to be ready and succeed. They also have skills checklists that we will be using in lab and I have already printed off the ones that pertain to physical assessment because I have not experience with them. The other skills we are responsible for are the one's I do on a daily basis as a CNA. So I will not print them off yet, just look through them to make sure I am doing the correctly. I have not looked at them completely, but I will. I will be rewriting the notes on the lecture we had on documenting and communication just to see that I still have it. Also they said that we will have a math compentency quiz the first day of class. I am thinking that it will be on the stuff we covered in pre-nursing (basic math, conversions and basic dosage calculations). The website has dosage calculation review questions that I fully intend on completing by the first day of class. I just wanted to know if I am doing this the right way? Am I expecting too much or putting too much on myself? Am I on the right track? I know that this is going to be hard right now because I am work full-time for the summer. It will be better during the semester since I will be only working every other Saturday and Sunday. I am praying that works out. Your input is greatly appreciated. Until next time...

Hey VannVann,

I don't think it is too much. I think it is better to be well prepared and be ready to jump right in the first day of class. I think it is great they are giving you readings and assignments now that you can get done before the first day of class. When the nursing classes actually start then you can kind of decide if your method of studying and preparing is going to work with the courseload they give you. Do what works best for you and if this method helps you succeed in nursing school then do your thing. When exactly is the first day of class for you? I think I will be going through something similar in August at my school. A week before classes start we have to attend a Nursing Success Institute the whole week and I'm looking forward to that. Keep us posted and keep up the great work :). You are an encouragement and I know you will do very well in nursing school :nurse:.

Thank You, CT! When its late at night and I can actually can hear myself think, I get a little retarded. But I think that your method of buying books is great. I think I am going to buy two every other week when I get paid (amazon has free super saver shipping) Thank You for calming me down. My program starts August 19th.

I made it! Found out I was accepted into the ADN program. I'll have orientation in about a week. It's so good to see so many names I recognize from the pre-nursing boards. We did it :):yeah:

I have orientation on July 19 and have 6 months before i begin. Trying to use this time to organize my home & family and work on "Nursing Math", Terminology, and group drugs together stuff i can memorize now~Good Luck Everyone

I too am starting the ADN program this August! Big relief off my shoulders. I live in Florida and am going to PSC. Our first orientation is next Friday and then we have one right before school starts. I just finished Intro to Nursing so I have pretty much everything ready for school except a physical and immunizations. So excited!!

Include me in the list. I am starting the ADN program at PCC in Portland Oregon.

They just released the class roster for the class of 2013.

There are 65 females and 15 males in my class, and two of them have

the same first name as me.
