Admission to BHSON 2014

Published

Hi,

I recently submitted my application to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for this fall. Who is with me? I'm so excited yet nervous. I hope I get in. Anyone got and acceptance letter ye?

I'm starting in the fall..day program. Has anyone done their CPR training yet? If so where did you do it?

I did mind at work months ago.

I have not done it yet either. I am thinking Red Cross?

I already have mine too.

Where did you do yours?

Kellyre & Pennholder at least that's one less thing you guys have to do :) jenna.barolli Im thinking about doing my cpr training with the Red Cross also.

I don't know where you are from but I know there is another place in New Haven that does it for a little cheaper than Red Cross. I'll find the name of the place

So for the past few weeks I've been reading everything that has been posted on this forum. I finally decided to create a username. For those who have been accepted congrats. I have been waiting for almost 2 months now for an answer. From what I have read here some of those that has been accepted have not taking AP 1 or Micro . So it seems like grades aren't taken into consideration just the teas and gpa?! I've met all my pre'requiste except for micro which i will be taken in the summer and AP 2 im taking now at HCC. My application as been under review since March 14th becuase they didnt have all my requirements in. I thought it was odd because everything was mailed out in January. When I called the school to reconfirm that they all the "NOs" meant they didnt receive my 2 of my references and transcripts and she told that was correct. I told her that's impossible when I mailed my refrence letter myself. She started looking around and finally found my paperwork which delayed my application process. Now I'm startting to worry because I didnt do the best on my teas and my gpa is ok and I know applying is very competive . No is the waiting period for those who have not been accepted?!

I have my CPR through the ambulance company I volunteer with. I do have all my classes out of the way,not sure it that makes a difference as who gets accepted. I have mostly A's and a few B's my teas score was not that good I only got a 70. I think they look at everyone as a whole. Last year i applied to GWCC I didn't have all the classes just the few to apply( the basics) I was wait listed so this year I finished all my classes, I took micro over the summer and the rest. But not sure if it made a difference because this was my first time applying to BHSN. I know it's very frustrating I was there last year when I was wait listed at Gateway. Good luck.

I also took all of my pre req classes and co req classes at gateway. I also had a bachelors degree when applying. They had transcripts from all of the schools I attended so my GPA couldn't have been extremely high. Probably around a 3.1-3.2. I got a 73 on the TEAS which was better than what I did the first time which was a 61.3. I had A's B's and C's in my pre reqs/co -reqs so I too believe that they look at you as a whole. Every school you've been to every class you've taken your essay and your recommendations.

Im hoping since i work at yale my references are nurses who been nurses 30+ yrs and my nurse manager will help me. My grades are A and B and my teas was a 60. I hope we all hear something

Kell, I wonder how they choose because I have the same stats as you. I have a 3.8 GPA and 70 on the Teas. Took every class. I only need nursing courses. I have my CPR and I work in the medical field. I really wish they were able to say why someone does not make it into the program. I also took all my pre-reqs at Gateway too. I did apply again to Gateway so I'm waiting to hear. I always remain positive so we shall see what happens. Nursing school is so competitive. Congrats to you and everyone that got in to the program.
