Admission to BHSON 2014

Published

Hi,

I recently submitted my application to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for this fall. Who is with me? I'm so excited yet nervous. I hope I get in. Anyone got and acceptance letter ye?

Bridgeport looks at it all. However, they have a high attrition rate which means our real work has yet to begin. Bridgeport just let us prove that we belong there...now we have to really prove it.

I have several friends who went there. Be ready to study and work. Clinical is not easy and takes perpetration on your own time.

Once it gets closer to August would you all like me to set up a private discussion board for our class? That way we can help each other out in numerous ways.

At least BHSN gives you a chance to make up in certain areas if you're lacking in other areas. The community college system is so backwards and unfair. Unless you make it in to the first 50 students by rank you're basically screwed. So if you have a 4.0 GPA and someone else has a 2.7 they are able to get a spot before you because of the lottery. This has been the most fair admissions I have seen. I was also wait listed last year at the community college and I watched people get in before me because of the lottery. It made me so upset. I think everyone no matter what their stats are have a chance here at BHSN. They look at everything and there is no lottery or rank based on one class and a TEAS score like at the community college. So I truly believe you are all better of in this application process than there.

Penholder, that would be great! I hear the same things about our program. It's a solid 6-7 hours a night of studying and prep. I personally cannot wait!

Here we go! There is a Proboard set up for the class. PM me for the address. I want to keep this strictly BHSN students.

I have used proboards in the past so I am familiar with the Admin navigation.

FYI-one of my backgrounds is in IT (Computer Security)...so I take things like HIPAA very seriously.

@jenna-agreed that this was one of the fairest admission procedures I have seen in any nursing program. The only item I would like added is an interview. I am a big interview person though. I can't stand the CC admission process. I applied to 3 other schools. STCC used a somewhat similar system, Holyoke CC used a point system and Memorial was very similar to BHSN. I think much could be learned from BHSN.

Has anyone that was accepted been changed over to student on their website?

Thank you I really hope that they do give chances as whole . BHSON did say that but I guess I'm just nervous and anxious . This was the only school I was able to apply to so the thought of waiting for a year is pretty scary . I just hop I hear something back soon and hoping since I have most of my prerequisite out the way they consider my application

I have not been changed yet. I try every single day to login as student

thank you. The only thing I have seen was a letter asking me to respond with my preference for either the night or day program.

BHSN said 2 weeks to change it over. I delivered deposit 2 weeks ago friday.

If we are able to log in as an applicant then we shouldn't be able to log in as a student and vice versa.

For those who are waiting:

BHSN accepts the 120 and then makes a wait list. When one of the nurses at my work started he didn't get in initially. He wasn't even wait listed. He was called and told that he got in. Don't give up hope!

If you really don't get in, message me. I know of a couple schools that admit for January sessions, even though they may not be close.

Also....remember...Health care is HUGE! You may have your heart set on being a nurse, but there are countless other jobs in health care that you could do as well. There is surgical, radiology, respiratory, polysonmography, sonography, OTA, PTA, medical lab tech. I am the kind of person who always has a back-up plan. I have explored numerous ones of these...feel free to drill me. Nurses are just a piece of the system and they can't do their job without everyone else!

I am still waiting for my status to change over to student...I dropped my deposit off the first week of March and also picked the day program

Jenna I agree, last year I was wait listed at GWCC, I too had really good grades and there was a person who was 100 on the wait list get in after we got our letters and place. She was in the science room talking about it. Also with the lottery thing its not really fair.

Nam2bRN, weird because I have the same grades and GPA. The only thing different was my references and essay. I do wish they tell people why they aren't accepted so you would know what to improve.
