Admiration, Gratitude and Thanks

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I recently decided to return to school to pursue a degree in nursing (BSN). I'm in my mid 30s, hated my corporate job, and thought I was still young enough to make a positive change in my life. My experiences today have really reenforced my decision.

My mom had a stroke this morning. We brought her to the Aurora Medical Center in Colorado. The ER and ICU nurses there are absolutely incredible. They are amazing....professional, caring, really "on their game". They have earned my respect and admiration and I can't thank them enough for what they did. A special thanks to Adrienne (not sure on spelling). My mom was, to put it midly, a bit combative. Adrienne never lost her cool and was great.

So, a big THANK YOU to nurses. If you don't hear it everday please know that you make a tremendous difference and your selflessness is genuinely appreciated.

I know I love to see thank you cards when someone really had a great experience :) Maybe send the team there one? (and chocolate :heartbeat...but you know...I didn't say it)

i hope that your mother is doing better

It's good to hear the positive experiences!! Hope your Mom is doing well, and good luck to you!

First, I sincerely hope your Mother is getting better.

Second, thank you for the kind words, and the encouragement to continue going into work each day. Know that we do make a small difference in our patient's lives and sometimes hearing back about it, makes the satifaction of all the hard work we did to become a nurse, and stay working as a nurse.

Again, many thanks for your post, you made a few nurses very happy.

We will be looking forward to the day you post I graduated! and passed that NCLEX too.

Specializes in Med/Surg.

People like you are the reason i stay sane in this profession. i hope your mother is ok and let us know when you graduate and pass the nclex

Just an update: My mom is at home now and on the recovery. The tPA was administered in time. Her speech is already greatly improved and motor functions look good.

Another personal thank you to Tracy. She went way above and beyond!! She is the definition of composure (dealing with my combative mom).
