Active duty navy fy 2016

Published

Hey guys/gals I'm just wondering if their is anyone applying for this upcoming fy 2016 for direct commission into the navy. I guess I should have mentioned that I was referring to the nurse corps.

Navywifern,

I had noticed that you mentioned that you were waiting to get in contact with a detailer. Does that mean you've already sworn in and everything?

Not yet. I need to wait to commission until after Oct. 1st.

Results of echo are fine. There are no issues that would DQ me. Now the recruiter will send needed info for the MEPS prescreen. That takes about a week, then if all is good, will schedule MEPS

Hey everyone! I was also selected as an alternate for fy16. My specialty is pediatrics. It has definitely been quite the waiting game so far. My recruiter has pretty much guaranteed my spot in Oct. But I can't help but still be cautiously optimistic.

I was told towards the end of July that they were going to start pulling alternates beginning in Aug but my recruiter said he misheard that info and I was still set for Oct.

Abautista88 and navywife88, have you had to update or do anything to your packet while waiting as an alternate? I'm afraid something small will hold me back at the last second. Has anyone been in touch with you outside contact with your recruiter and have you heard any certain dates for Oct?

I'm so very excited about this new adventure and hope all goes as planned and I get to meet you all very soon!

I need to redo my physical and blood work since its been more than 2 years. Thats how long I've been at this! Other than that, everything else is ok. I haven't heard any specific dates for ODS yet. Still waiting on that. At one point, they were trying to get me into the August class but it was too close of a turn around. I was given other contact information from my recruiter and am waiting at this point to hear back from those individuals to see what I need to proceed!

Hopefully we hear something soon!!

This is gonna be a slow process for me as well. Waiting for this prescreen so I can schedule MEPS is a drag. So many of you as alternates. I am jealous. Knowing you have a spot is sweet. At least thats how I am hearing it. October 1st could not come soon enough; however, I guess more like middle to end of October we should know who has been selected.

Hello all,

Like several of the people on this thread I was also an "alternate" selection last year. About two or three weeks ago my recruiter emailed me to say that he had received my final selection letter and believed I would commission sometime after October 1st. He told me to make sure I was in proper shape and has asked me a few questions about experience, etc. I haven't heard much more but will be sure to update the thread with any new news. Good luck to everyone!

Please stay in touch nann as i am interested in your progress. I am not an alternate. Hopeing for that one last spot for direct accession

Nna402,

The only thing that my recruiter requested of me was and updated resume. The recruiter who got me through the whole process moved from her position and I was transferred to another recruiter as a point of contact until I commission.

Thanks Abautista and navywife for the reply. I just got a call earlier from my recruiter to let me know they did not honor the alternate spot for me. I was told before that it was a done deal but the letter came in today and said there weren't any pediatric spots available. My recruiter said there were adult ICU and L&D spots.

I'm incredibly bummed considering this is my 3rd attempt at this process.

Good luck everyone. I hope your news is better than mine! Keep me updated!

Has any of the alternates like myself hear any news as to when they would be commissioning or when you'd be going to ODS?
