don't buy a single book the first semester. U don't need a single one. I would only recommend buying book for anesthesia mngt which is by jaffe. It is the only book I have ever used on a continued basis. Now what u should buy.. a solid touch screen computer. Ipad so that when you read online books u can answer questions on computer while reading from iPad.

CRNA Student Loans
I am currently enrolled at Keiser University SRNA program and I can tell you that I take out 32k every 2 semesters and that is enough to live on without working. You end up getting 16000 each semester. Plenty of money to take care of essentials. If I had the money at the start I would have taken loans to pay for school and not taken any graduate plus loans (thats where 32k comes from)

I'm in the second semester and I love it. Here's my honest take on this school and the degree of difficulty. I found the first semester to be rough. 2 classes in particular will just kill you. Advanced pharm and advanced AP. Other classes just keep you busy. I studied probably 6-8 on avg each day with one day no studying at all as this was a recommendation by Dr. Campero. With that being said, the instructors are fair and have no interest in seeing you fail. I still managed Straight As but it wasn't without a lot of effort. I have found the 2nd semester 2 be much easier but with a *** ton more busy work. Observation days, developing med sheets, quizzes all the time, modules each week, presentations...I think you get the point. So far my education is exactly what i think it should be in order to pass the boards. Yep, you have instructors your gonna click with and others you won't. There are minor issues I have with Keiser but none that should stop you from applying.

Good question lucylu The seniors just graduated and I know from experience they do not do much in relation to interviews or anything else for that matter. They are preparing new grads for board exams and that makes for a hectic February. All the instructors are tirelessly working with them to prepare them to pass their boards. PLEASE BE PATIENT as I ran into this same exact scenario last February. Hope that helps

"I got an interview here in March! Anyone know what kind of questions they tend to ask (clinical vs personal) and any tips?" Thanks!! Here are the questions I was asked from what I remember? How do you plan to deal with stress in this program? How do anesthesia meds affect preload? What kind of support system do you have? Do you have any questions for us? (I suggest you think of some) Why do you want to be a CRNA? Your not gonna be able to work during the program, how do you plan to finance the program and take care of yourself financially? Anesthesia program has a very high substance abuse rate. What strategies do you plan to use to prevent this? I gave the answer that I have been an RN for 13 years. It hasn't been a problem then, and now and it wont be a problem ever. NOPE, THAT IS A TERRIBLE ANSWER, do not say that. There exact response was you have never been tested like this in nursing. I had to back track and tell them how it wouldn't affect me. Why should I pick you over the many other applicants we have? What is special about you? I DID GET ASKED 2 CLINICAL QUESTIONS, I JUST CANT REMEMBER THE 2ND ONE. I didn't know the answer to the first one and I told them I didn't know and I wasn't gonna try and BS my answer. REMEMBER, your sitting in front of VERY SMART CRNAs. They are gonna know when your full of crap. Integrity is a huge part of this program. Hope that helps

Lets try an address each question that you have, First, I am currently enrolled at Keiser University and am in the first semester. There pass rates for the last class was 100%. AND I CAN TELL YOU that from what I have seen so far, I can see why. Bonus points offered on tests, chance to redo papers to achieve a higher grade, and grading on a curve. I do not see any truth from someone telling you the pass rates stink. If you can't pass, its your own damn fault. There is absolutely no truth either to someone telling you they weed people out. Utter nonsense. Keiser does not make any money if you quit. They only make money if you stay in the program. Keiser University doesn't have a bad rap. It took over Wolford when Wolford was about to lose accreditation. I can honestly say, I only have one instructor that needs teaching classes. He is a mess. BUT that has not stopped me from excelling in his class. If you have a question, you can email them. AND even one instructor offers review classes to help study for the tests. There are 46 students in this class. Double the size of any previous class. I expected as much, as Keiser is trying to upgrade their program to DNP by January. I have no idea how that is going. Conclusion, I would attend this program again. Three downsides to this class. I am not fond of the teaching style of a single instructor, expensive, hot damn 46 students. There are so many more positives Last note, Keiser is building a new campus. Should be ready by next September I did not edit this for punctuation or grammar errors. Fix them as you go along. LOL

I am currently in the first semester of the Nurse Anesthesia program. I can tell you that you need a 80 to pass any of the classes. They say you can get a C in a class and continue, but they only allow 1.
