Hello,

I am a new grad and passed NCLEX on 8/8/12. I am waiting for a job, and would like to start reviewing for ACLS. I dont plan on buying the book, however I will if needed. What kind of review/studying can I do while I have the time? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks

Do NOT get an older book. It needs to be the current book as the information changes from update to update. Good luck!

With some diligence and Google (praise be to Sergey and Larry), you can find all of the ACLS information on the web.

Here are a few for which I can vouch:

Part 8: Adult Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

2010 ACLS Guidelines | ACLS Algorithms

And the grand poobah of learning EKG interpretation:

I would buy the most current version of the ACLS provider manual from the AHA, although if you sign up with an AHA approved ACLS instructor I think the book may be provided. I signed up with a medical center to take ACLS, and along with the book (provided) were cards with the algorithms printed on them (very helpful). There was also a pre-course assessment, learning exercises, plus more information on ACLS on the AHA web site. Knowledge of basic EKG interpretation was a requirement to take the course. The course covers a large amount of information, and my experience was that it requires a lot of studying.

Try your local or school library. Mine had a bunch of ACLS related books.

All of the 2010 AHA guidelines are available on the Circulation journal site: http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/122/18_suppl_3

The book was mandatory for m ACLS class. In the beggininng of class the instructor told anyone who didn't have their book to go home. The book was and very helpful.
