Access to Nursing interview

On the 30th of August,I will have an interview for the Access to Nursing course.

I am a bit scared about it,does anyone know or maybe remember what sort of questions, they might ask me?

I really want to pass this interview.

I know it is not the same as having an interview for a Nursing course, but this is the beginning of my journey.

I hope it all goes well.

Good luck for your interview :balloons:

Good luck

They will probably look at why you want to go into nursing and maybe your plans for the future. Can't say I remember wht I talked about at my pre nursing course in the early 80's my brain cells started dying long time before that :D

Hiya,

Sorry but I can't help you very much in what questions they may ask of you, I agree with Silverdragon in that they will probably ask you more along the lines of why you want to be a nurse, why this course and just get a general overview of you as a person and if you have a realistic view of what nursing is etc etc.

I did an access course before my degree and I found it invaluable in helping me get through university as I had no idea how to study, write essays etc etc, it also gave me a basic insight into sociology which I had never studied and just generally gave me the confidence to believe that I could actually do a degree.

I'm sure you will do fine in your interview and I hope that you'll find it as invaluable as I did.

That is really good news I am so pleased for you

hI Pizzalover,

I also did the access course and am in my first year at uni now. Expect some questions about ur aspirations (i.e what u hope to do after completeing the access course), previous schooling, expectations of the course, commitments, why u chose the course etc..

I think that as long as u can demonstrate that u have given the course serious thought, and are prepared to commit urself u should be fine. Eye contact, communication and personal presentation are all important.

I hope this useful, and good luck!!

Hi there

I have just joined up on allnurses.com. Just a quick note to say that I think you will love your course - I completed my Access course this year. I was studying it at night classes - two years part-time. It was a wonderful course - I live in Belfast so the course may have been of a slightly different format than those carried out in England. I studied 2 different modules of Chemistry, 2 of Biology, each of these modules was 1 year long, a single module of Statistics but this was 2 years long and then over the 2 years another module called Support Skills which consisted of IT Skills, Study Skills, Presentations, and Interview techniques. One word of advice , if you hit a stage where you think you can't do it all - don't give up, you'll manage to get through it and afterwards it does give a boost to your confidence. My confidence in relation to studying has definately increased. I am a mature student (very mature! I might add) so I was really surprised when I got offered a place to study nursing by four universities. Queens in Belfast have two intakes each year - Sept & Feb and I will be starting there next February (more mature students in the 2nd intake). So stick to it and enjoy!
