hI Pizzalover, I also did the access course and am in my first year at uni now. Expect some questions about ur aspirations (i.e what u hope to do after completeing the access course), previous schooling,expectations of the course, commitments, why u chose the course etc.. I think that as long as u can demonstrate that u have given the course serious thought, and are prepared to commit urself u should be fine. Eye contact, communication and personal presentation are all important. I hope this useful, and good luck!!

Would really appreciate any help with these questions (trying to complete my drug calculations booklet!!). 1) PATIENT PRESCRIBED SOLUBLE INSULIN 100 UNITS IN 5O ML 0.9% SODIUM CHLORIDE SET AT AN INFUSION RATE OF 6MLS PER HOUR. HOW MANY UNITS OF INSULIN WILL PATIENT RECEIVE EACH HOUR- CALCULATE FLOW RATE AS ML/HR. 2)PATIENT PRESCRIBED 40,000 UNITS OF HEPARIN OVER 24 HOURS. THE VIAL OF HEPARIN IS 25000 UNITS/ML AND YOU'RE ASKED TO DILUTE THE HEPARIN IN NaCl 0.9% TO RUN AT 1ML/HR. a) what volume of heparin do you draw up? b) how much sodium chloride do you add to the heparin to infuse 40,000 units over 24 hours? 3) PATIENT PRESCRIBED 60mmol K+ IN 500MLS NaCl TO BE GIVEN OVER 3HOURS. Hey there, (interesting name by the way!). I think its quite normal to have some doubts about ur career choice. I know I certainly did; I even tried some other courses before finally listening to my brain and heart. Some of us are natural academics and find it easy to write a 3000 word essay within a day; and some have to work hard in order to achieve the same. Only u know what suits u best, and if not u'll figure it out soon enough. I think the best advice I can offer is: if you're having difficulty then seek help as soon as possible. sometimes all u need is someone to explain in a different way, after all its quite easy to go off track.
