Accepted at North Georgia! Now what?

Published

I am so excited, I just got my letter today from NGCSU! I was completely shocked to get it today- I had been told letters wouldn't go out until April 1 or later. I have to accept or decline the spot by Feb 27. I also applied to Athens Tech and they are not making decisions until April. Obviously, I don't want to give up my spot at NG, not knowing if I will get in ATC. I thought I preferred ATC because it is cheaper. I have a BA already and I know if I qualify for any financial aid it will only be loans. I have been paying out of pocket for my prereqs and we could probably keep doing that at ATC, but probably not at NG. Also, the gainesville campus for NG is 18 miles for me, while the ATC is 44 miles. I have a lot of thinking to do-- does anyone have any advice??

Did anyone attend the seminar? I never even got a postcard/letter about it. :(

Just wondering what I missed....

Nicole,

I never got anything about it either. I don't know if it took place or not. I am going up to the main campus tomorrow evening for summer registration. I'm trying to get a few classes over the summer but I also registered for them at GPC in case NGCSU's classes are full.

Is anyone else going to summer INTRO Wednesday evening (April 15)?

I got the postcard, but I wasn't able to to go. It was Monday the 13th (yesterday).

There is another meeting coming up at the HNS building at NGCSU. The ad on the hallway said that

the conference will be held Monday the 20th (tomorrow) at 12:15 PM in the "conference" room. Not sure which room is that one, maybe the one on the second floor.

If anyone is interested, let me know. I'm going, since I have classes before and after the conference.

I have a couple of questions for anyone who is currently attending or will start attending NGCSU this fall. Does anyone know how many days per week the ASN program students need to wear the uniform? I'm trying to get my summer "check-ff" list completed and I don't want to have too few or too many.

Also, do we have to get our shoes from the company that makes the uniform? I ordered some white Earth brand shoes that have no laces, made of leather, closed back, etc. They are really comfy. I can send them back if they won't work.

On the subject of books -- I was told to go to the campus library for the fall book list. Does anyone have an updated list? I can drive up there (it's only about 35 miles) but I was just curious.

Oh, and one last question -- does the first and second A&P class use the same book?

Thanks for any help you can provide!:)

I do know we have clinical one day a week our first year and twice a week the second year. I don't know about shoes...I would call the school but I don't think the brand of shoes matters as long as they fit certain criteria. Don't know about the books for fall either...I haven't looked into that yet. Curious to hear other answers.

Is anyone out there starting the lpn to rn nursing bridge program this summer 2009 at ngcsu. I've been accepted to the Gainesville campus and would really like to talk to anyone that is attending.

Jackie

Jackie,

Sorry I can't help, I am starting the regular asn program in gainesville this fall. NG is doing a mentor program for us, a second year student contacted me and has given me a lot of good info. As part of the bridge, do you take a summer class and then in the fall just start the second year of the asn program, or do you have a completely different program?

Good luck to you!

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I start the bridge portion this summer for 8 weeks. In the Fall, I will be in my last year. If you don't mind, would you ask your mentor if she knows anyone I can contact for questions. It would be great to speak to someone.

Best of luck to you and keep in touch.

Jackie

jackie,

I will send her an email. I am leaving to go out of town and will not be near a computer, so you may not hear from me until sometime next week!

Thanks so much!

Hello Everyone! Hi Jackie! How did the summer bridge program go? How are you? Are you ready for the fall? I am so ready and scared at the same time. :redbeathe I missed orientation. I will be in Florida until the 14th for military training. Has anyone registered for classes yet? Who all will be registering on September 18th? I will be there on the 18th. :D I have to schedule to meet with the department to get the orientation information. However can someone pm me to let me know what was VERY important to know for school. Thank you and am ready to meet and gain new friends that share the same interest in contributing to life! :nurse:
