I am so excited, I just got my letter today from NGCSU! I was completely shocked to get it today- I had been told letters wouldn't go out until April 1 or later. I have to accept or decline the spot by Feb 27. I also applied to Athens Tech and they are not making decisions until April. Obviously, I don't want to give up my spot at NG, not knowing if I will get in ATC. I thought I preferred ATC because it is cheaper. I have a BA already and I know if I qualify for any financial aid it will only be loans. I have been paying out of pocket for my prereqs and we could probably keep doing that at ATC, but probably not at NG. Also, the gainesville campus for NG is 18 miles for me, while the ATC is 44 miles. I have a lot of thinking to do-- does anyone have any advice??
Hi! I have until April 3 to accept a spot at NGCSU for the ASN program/Lanier campus. Sounds like you all know quite a lot about their program. I threw my name in late in 2008, and honestly didn't expect to get in this year. Does anyone know their retention rate for the last few years? I've found their NCLEX pass rate averages 89% from 2004-2007.
I had all but changed my mind and decided to go for the BSN (this would be a 2nd bachelors for me -- 1st is in journalism), but it is hard to turn down an acceptance already in hand and less time in school. Any info you guys have would be helpful!
mlvangil,
I'm going for my ASN and meantime I'm doing the required core classes for BSN. At NGCSU there is a bridge program between ASN and BSN, it takes 3 semesters which is one calendar year, start in fall and finish the last fall. I believe it's something like a day/week and some on-line classes. That's my plan. Any other questions?

Hello everyone! I will be attending the Gainesville campus and I recieved the packet with the checklist as well! Also, yesterday in the mail I received an invitation to a information session that is being held by current NGCSU nursing students...I am going to attend this.. is anyone else attending? Willl anyone be taking classes this summer?
I don't think I'll be able to make it to the info session...I already have several appointments lined up that day and kids are out of school for spring break as well...my letter didn't say what time it was being held, though?
I'm not taking any classes this summer. I have already done everything but the nursing classes. I am doing an independent study review of A&P and studying the BLS (recert) book right now.
I am still not sure if I will be taking classes this summer...I may take one or two just to keep my brain going through the summer :). I have finished almost all of the general classes..I am in Micro this semester..I'm happy that I got the more "time-consuming" classes out of the way so I will only have to take the nursing classes :). If I do take something it will be the foreign language and maybe math 1113..and I would probably do them online .
My letter didn't tell what time the meeting will be either, I e-mailed the student asking what time and I have not received a response yet.
I have everything else completed, so I am just enjoying my break until the nursing classes start in the fall.
I really wanted to go to that meeting on Monday too, but we will be out of town for the kids spring break. It was definitly short notice.
I have been looking online for a cpr class. Zookeeper--you said you're renewing? Did you originally take it in the Atlanta area? There is a class convenient for me through Georgia CPR LLC in Decatur. They are not one of the three on the list we got, but they are AHA. I'm hesitant to just sign up when I don't know anything about them.
I just got an e-mail that said the date for the info session was supposed to be April 13th and that they were sending everyone a postcard about it...I think it was from 1:30-3:00.
The CPR class just has to be AHA and for Healthcare Providers...a BLS course. The phone numbers NGCSU gave us said they were just "suggestions" of where to find a class, but they just need a copy of your card...I don't believe they care where you take the course. I am taking mine through our hospital (Stephens Co.) and I have had BLS before so I'm just studying the book ahead of time and doing a recert class.
If you have never had BLS before you might want to take the full course...(?)
