I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.
I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.
I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.
Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.
Really appreciated.
odooma: what is the "tuition equalizer" and the other "institution scholarships" that you speak of?
i was doing some research of my own and saw that northside also has a scholarship here is their website
http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/docs/nur100208.pdf. any information that you or anyone has to offer will be greatly appreciated. i too am worried about funding for emory...
I still haven't received my financial aid package either. Odooma, I think the HOPE scholarships are for GA residents only. There are also service cancellable loans that we didn't have to apply but will be considered for.
Trish, Northside does have a scholarship program much like NEAT or CHANCES where you commit to work for them after graduation. Did you apply for NEAT? I'm worried about how to pay as well but I'm hopeful that everything will work out for the best.
ImGonnaKnockUOut: Have you applied for the Northside Scholarship? I just briefly viewed the application but have not yet seen all that it requires. I did apply for the Neat and the woodruff scholarship, not sure when we are supposed to hear about those. Are you considering any other schools?
I went to the georgiacolleges411 website and it gave me all the information so you can try that one too. Hope is for only Georgia residents. Tell you what, I am so anxious because I didn't confirm NGCSU so this is my only choice and I am praying that I will find a way of financing it somehow.

No I didn't apply for the Northside scholarship. I am really hoping to get NEAT. There was a girl on here a few years ago that received the Northside scholarship and attended Emory. I considered going to Georgia Baptist last year and was accepted but I planned all of my prerequites around Emory because it has always been my first choice. I still can't believe I was accepted! Are you considering any other schools?
hey guys! i am a current "in limbo" student at emory. i started last fall 2008 and sadly have to repeat a course.:banghead:
(missed the grade cutoff by two points- i got a 73 in pharm and you must have a 75 to pass). i was quite bummed over christmas break this year, but have picked myself back up and will be back this fall 2009 to kick some a**!!
in response to the op this past fall they recommended we get a palm tx for the pda. its at best buy, office max, staples, etc for around $300. most everyone in our class got that one. but the programs work on others i am just not sure which ones because i got the tx (later to be placed in my lab coat pocket and ran through the wash....but thats another story altogether!)
for a stethoscope i got the littman classic ii from the scrubs store that is near emory called uniform advantage (and they give you a discount too if you say you a current student). it was around 75 dollars on sale. there are several less expensive ones out there and other more expensive options. but i love mine and can hear very well with it! best of luck prepping y'all. i know its alot of stuff but its exciting too. and i'll be joining y'alls class in the fall!!

ME TOO!!!! I didn't apply for the Woodruff scholarship, but I applied for everything else you mentioned. I am totally anxious. I don't know what I will do if I can't afford to go to Emory. I am so excite, but nervous. I have looked for all the resources I can. BTW, I haven't got my financial package. They say if will be available April 1st, but I don't know about the NEAT application. I don't know if you find out about that at a different time.
