accepted Emory students fall 2009

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

I am an independent too. I am also married, but I am taking every opportunity possible to afford nursing school. We'll see how it goes.

Does anyone know if the NEAT or CHANCES is just for BSN students or does it apply to Segue students too?

children's healthcare of atlanta: nursing commitment to employment and study(chances)

chances is a partnership between children’s healthcare of atlanta and emory university school of nursing established to provide tuition support for students while aiding children’s healthcare in recruiting and retaining qualified professional nurses. this award is granted to students who have been accepted to the bachelor of science in nursing program.

Miche, I was wondering the same thing. I considered calling to double check, but I imagine the whole point is to have you serve right out of the BSN; so if you're going on to the MSN directly, you wouldn't qualify. If you were considering taking a year or two off, then you could apply for a year or two of aid, respectively. I never asked, but I read the app a couple times and came to that conclusion, so I'm not applying.

Yea that's what I gathered from reading them too. I'm not going to apply for them either.

I was thinking of applying to Emory, I live in Miami now, I was wondering what the stats were to be accepted? Like what was your GPA's in your pre-req's?

My GPA is 3.75 at the moment but I think more emphasis is placed on the essay (Statement of Purpose). I would say apply. You have got nothing to lose

is it based on your GPA overall? or your science GPA? a lot of the schools here in miami look at your sciences mainly. I am def. going to try! :nuke:

Honestly, I really don't know. What I know for sure is the emphasis on the essay.

According to what they said at Experience Emory, they look at your overall GPA and then they look at your science GPA. I think they take all kinds of factors in to consideration though. They look at your academic record and resume, in addition to transcripts and recommendations.

I agree with Erin. I think they look at the student as a whole. I would go ahead and apply. Good luck!

Has anyone received their financial aid Package yet? I am dying to know how much it is and how much I am going to have to look for else where. I applied for NEAT, Hope, Tuition Equalizer, Woodruff scholarship and the other institution scholarships.

I am just stressing out about my financial situation.
