I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.
I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.
I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.
Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.
Really appreciated.

Hello All,
I've been accepted to Emory this fall as well! I would also appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks!
Hei,
Have you started anything yet? Any plans about housing or anything else? Do you have anything on your to do list?
I have not started anything. I have 3 things on my to list which are the last three classes that I need to take and I'm taking them this semster. I will be taking next semester off and I am so glad to finally be getting a break before the program starts. I have already submitted my fafsa and I have submitted my tax returns to Emory already, so that part is done. I'm just so glad everything is finally coming together. Have you done evrything?
No, I have 5 things on my to do list. 3 classes which I am taking in the summer and my taxes and verifications which I am going to do just after my lectures today. I will send them by the weekend so they can have it by monday. Unfortunately, I am having no break at all but hei, we'll manage.

yes I got accepted too! Did you guys pay your deposit by Opus or did you send a check in the mail? I thought they we going to send me a packet or something but all i got was a single letter asking for the deposit? I wonder when they are going to send the pre-enrollment info?
Hey Sofa8,
I did receive the enrollement letter with the acceptance letter too. However, when the decisions were posted on OPUS, there was a link where you could pay the deposit online, so I paid it online. They sent me a confirmation saying, "we'll see you in the fall":yeah:
thanks! I will online then!

Hi guys! I have financial aid and classes left on my todo list. I'm finishing up 2 classes this semester and have 2 to take over the summer. Is anyone applying for NEAT or CHANCES? I believe those applications have to be in by March 1st.
I know what you mean about being prepared Odooma. I am already looking at the iTouch for a PDA. I was looking at the smartphones but I think in some hospitals phones are not permitted.
I live here in Atlanta but am not very familiar with the housing options around Emory. Have you visited the school at all? It is amazing!
I heard that financial aid awards will be on our opus after april 1st! What is CHANCE and NEAT?
here are the descriptions of chances and neat. they are listed under service based aid:
nursing employment and tuition award (neat) - application
the neat award is granted to students who have been accepted to the bachelor of science (bsn) in nursing program and who have demonstrated financial need. neat awards are designed to help students finance their education and to assist emory university hospital, crawford long hospital and wesley woods geriatric hospital recruit and retain well-prepared professional nurses. in return for four semesters of financial support from one of the sponsoring hospitals, candidates agree to work as a staff nurse for the sponsoring hospital for two years after graduation from the bsn program. the value of the neat award is 50% of the cost of tuition. applications must be received by march 1st.
children's healthcare of atlanta: nursing commitment to employment and study(chances)
chances is a partnership between children's healthcare of atlanta and emory university school of nursing established to provide tuition support for students while aiding children's healthcare in recruiting and retaining qualified professional nurses. this award is granted to students who have been accepted to the bachelor of science in nursing program.
