accepted Emory students fall 2009

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

Does anyone know if it will be okay to use a laptop while in class. Has anyone heard anything for it or against it?

Looks like I'll be joining you guys in the fall since I got my letter today! I'll be a segue student specializing in WHNP. Now that that's out of the way, I just have to figure out how to pay for it! I applied for NEAT and I'm gonna start looking at my loan options. Can't wait to meet you all!

Congratulations LaBrittany :yeah:!!

Congratulations LaBrittany :yeah:!!

Thanks!!!! I'm SUPER excited about it (you know I was stressed out at first), but have NO IDEA about how to pay for it yet. I guess I'll start on that tomorrow. Congrats to everyone else too!!

I just got my letter!! SOOOOO excited! I was accepted in the Segue program for peds acute care. So now I'm trying to decide between here and Yale....

Hey everyone! I'm really excited about starting the BSN program in the fall. I know a couple of you are asking about housing options. There are TONS of apartment complexes and houses for rent around Emory. Many people look at Highland Lakes and Gables Monclair on Clairmont Rd. There are quite a few houses for rent on Ridgewood (but that's a VERY active party scene over the weekend), and on North Decatur. I don't know if you can apply for housing at Clairmont, but quite a few juniors and seniors live in the Clairmont towers, and graduate students live in the graduate apartments at Clairmont (but any campus housing is RIDICULOUSLY over priced). If you are looking for apartments around campus, start looking now. Everyone is already getting housing worked out as far as putting their names on the waiting list and so forth. I hope that helps.

I sent my returns and verifications yesterday. I hope they will get it on monday. Did anyone apply for the Woodruff Scholarship? I was told we will be getting results by the first week of much.

Thanks guys, I did not know about the NEAT deadline so I am going to fill the application now and send it tomorrow so they can get it on monday.

I will also be going to Emory during the spring break to have a good look out housing prospects. Once again, Congrats to you all and I hope we all get to meet before Fall 09.

Congratulations everyone! What a relief it must be after all the stressing. I am still not ruling out Emory, despite only getting into the BSN, but like you Miche, am trying to decide between Yale & Emory. I didn't know about those two possibilities for aid, so thanks for posting the info! T. Crew, what waiting list are you talking about for housing? Is that for on-campus?

Hello, all! I have also been accepted to Emory as a 2nd degree seeker for Fall 2009. I am very excited!! I too only learned of the NEAT application tonight. I am filling out the application right now and will send it out tomorrow

Congratulations to everyone!!

Laura, the waiting list is for housing in a complex off campus.

I too have been accepted to Emory School of Nursing for the fall of 2009! I viewed my acceptance letter on my Birthday 02/16 and it was the best birthday present ever! I hope that we can have a few Emory students that can give some insight as to what we have in store for us in the first semester. I heard that the first semester in any Nursing School is the most difficult! Congratulations to everyone! Has anyone done the "CSS/Financial Aid Profile"? Does anyone know if this application would be beneficial to someone who will be applying for financial aid as an independent, meaning I am married with children and my parents will not be supporting me in any way.

Well, I am independent as well but I filled everything possible I am almost done with my NEAT application so I can mail it tomorrow. I'd say fill everything, what have you got to lose. You only have up to March 1st , so go for it
